Dan Singkorn Market
Is Dasingkorn Market still open & has anyone visited recently. Also with the Coronavirus problems in Myanmar is it considered reasonably safe to do so.
Re: Dansingkorn Market
Not sure whether it's open or not. However, because of the 500% spike in Myanmar and lockdown imposed in Yangon, it's reported that the virus is spreading east towards the Thai border.
IMO not a good idea to go regardless whether the market is open or not.

Re: Dansingkorn Market
I last went about 3 months ago, nice drive, but the market, even without the virus, is a shadow of what it once was. Ruined by ripping down what was once there and creating a soulless, unattractive market place instead.

Yes is open everyday but now most of the booths now just sell rubbish copy Jewellery. Still a fair amount of wood furniture and a couple of good plant shops for Orchids.

Anyone been there on a Saturday morning recently?
Dan Singkhon Market
Does anyone know whether the market down there is in operation, furniture pieces and curios are of interest,
or know someone who would know, and what days are best to visit.
thank you.

In the past, Saturday morning, early, was the best time to visit.
Re: Dan Singkhon Market
I haven't been there for a while for obvious reasons, bur the last time I did, the market was dead, with a just a few shops open. This was pre-covid. I bought some household furniture about 4 years ago, maybe a bit more recently and the same applied then, just a couple of places open. I'm not sure about the places that there were before you actually entered the area, just outside of the run up to the market.

Don't waste your time unless you live nearby. From HH, total waste of time if a special trip. I live in the area, and go out there occasionally, but not for the market. Do drive around it, and nothing has changed for the good in the last few years.

Khun LA,
thanks for your advice, i dont mind making the trip, but its specifically for some furniture, yes i know there lots of tables, chairs that look similar, we visited in november 2019, way back then.
im more looking for some stand alone feature tables, and pieces suitable for housing a lot of Stereo equipment.
not the run of the mill stuff, there seemed to be a bit of the more interesting stuff back then.

Not too recent, sorry.
Re: Dan Singkorn Market
No promises, but if bored, very possible, and if I don't forget, maybe I'll pop out that way Saturday, if not raining, and take a peek, and if they let me, make a vid of any wood shops open at the market. Give you an idea if they have what you're interested in. Though usually just the things Michael's picture shows.bigston wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 6:59 pm Khun LA,

Last time out there, maybe within a month or so, and it didn't look like much of anything was open. I know the couple wood shops on the road, just outside the market area were shuttered / wrapped in green garden netting. Market itself was looking dead, but was probably a weekday when there.
