The speed of a heart attack
The speed of a heart attack
Had some bad news from the UK. My sister died of a massive heart attack a few hours ago.
The reason for the post is to point out just how quickly you can go from 'feeling fine' to being dead. My sister was preparing the Turkey for today, wrapping presents etc when she keeled over for no apparent reason. She was dead in just 5 mins.
It left me surprised at just how quickly a heart attack can happen. I suppose there is an upside. She wasn't ill so had had no drawn out suffering. She went so quickly that she'd have known nothing.
She lived with my 96 year old mother who is now on her own.
Obviously it could happen to anyone, you, me..... anyone. You don't have to be ill!!

Sorry for your loss. RIP.
Re: The speed of a heart attack
Sorry for your loss. Yes, can go from feeling okay to not okay pretty quick.
Three years ago, around this time, I was walking to the market, and suddenly felt I wouldn't get there, even though a five minute walk. Stood at the side of the road for a couple of minutes, then went back home. Drove to hospital (stupid, I know) and asked them to check me out. Couple of tests later and I was warded in semi-icu with suspected heart problems, stents followed a couple of weeks later.
I had had a full medical including a treadmill test only a couple of months earlier and was considered good for my age group.
Always listen to that little voice no matter what.

Sorry to hear, my condolences

Thanks for your condolences. I have a houseful including 5 kids. They never knew my sister so it's out of their zone. So today I have to pretend everything's normal and pretend for them.

Re: The speed of a heart attack
I follow all the messages here HHTel, very sad to hear of your loss.
I suffered a heart attack back in April day after getting my first covid AZ jab, didnt know a thing just started vomiting which I was informed by my duty medic that probably reaction to the vaccine. Ended up being rushed to emergency and had one stent fitted, blood clots one in heart and one in an artery. There seems to be an awful lot of this happening these days.

Re: The speed of a heart attack
Firstly.. My condolences to you HHTel on the untimely passing of your dear sis.
Last year I was diagnosed with Atrial fibrillation...(uneven heart beat). Seemingly it is quite common in today's society, and I am now on daily blood-thinners to reduce the likelyhood of clots forming... But according to the facts.. I am now 5 times more likely to suffer a stroke or heart-attack with this condition.
If I dwell on this fact it's kinda like living with a time bomb inside me that is NOT fitted with a Duracel battery..!

Re: The speed of a heart attack
Truly feel for you HHTel, especially at this time of year. It must be dreadful for you, especially when you are trying to deal with things alone. Maybe it would be good to explain things?
My family has a history of "cardiac issues" and unfortunately I know from experience. That said, huge advances have been made and whilst it's no comfort, I'm sure repeats of instances similar to your sister's will be minimised.
Best wishes.
