The Royal Gazette website published an announcement by the government's central committee on prices of goods and services on Jan 25, 2022, placing medical face masks, polypropylene (spunbond), a raw material used in making the masks, alcohol-based hand sanitiser and recyclable paper, along with chickens and chicken meat, on the state price control list.

How many chickens are you allowed to put in your luggage?

There are literally hundreds, maybe thousands of videos out there proving that masks work. The one above was debunked simply because vape smoke was used rather than the droplets which carry the virus, and those in the main are stopped. Yes you could spend a couple of days watching these videos but I came across this one which was made pre-vaccine but the argument backed up by facts is one of the easiest I've found for simple understanding. Excellent presentation of the reasons masks work. Plus it points out that masks were worn in 'the plague' and was very prevalent in the 1918 'flu epidemic.

Well worth a watch:

Ah yes, the old "mis-understanding" Thai bug:

Suvarnabhumi U-turns on face mask limit

Airport official says 'misunderstanding' led to posting of two-year-old notice

Suvarnabhumi airport blames a “misunderstanding” for a now-deleted announcement about a cap on the number of face masks people are allowed to take out of the country.

Airports of Thailand (AoT) had posted the restriction on Suvarnabhumi airport’s official Facebook account but it was subsequently deleted after a wave of criticism from the public.

The original notice said that people leaving the country could carry up to 30 face masks or as many as 50 if they have medical certificates to support their needs.

Exports of face masks were also banned under the restriction.

The announcement created panic among some members of the public. However, some alert netizens noted that the restriction was issued in 2020 and criticised the authorities responsible for failing to update the information.

“It was a misunderstanding,” Suvarnabhumi airport general manager Kittipong Kittikachorn said on Friday.

The information had been sent to AoT by the Commerce Ministry back when face masks were in short supply in 2020, but the note only reached the company last month, he said.

He conceded that the belated announcement posted online had caused confusion, adding that he had instructed officials to remove it.

Mr Kittipong said there was no need to enforce any such restriction now as Thailand has no shortage of face masks.

Not bad, only two years for the notice to reach its destination. After all, it's hot and a long walk from the Commerce Ministry to the airport, and taking into account weekends off and holidays, two years is probably a new record for speedy delivery.

Invest in mask manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies, and mosquito repellent.

Of course they don't REMOVE the risk. NOTHING does. But it greatly REDUCES the risk.

Clutching at straws as usual.

Even vaccines over the ages have never been 100% effective.

Plans underway for no-mask requirement in Thailand’s public parks
Thailand’s Public Health Ministry is aiming for public parks to be the first venues in which people will not be required to wear face masks, which is in line with their plan to designate COVID-19 as an endemic disease within four months, according to its Permanent Secretary Dr. Kiattibhoom Vongrachit

Dr. Kiattibhoom explained, however, that those infected with COVID-19 would still have to wear facemasks. Restrictions on group activities, such as football matches and concerts, may be relaxed, but necessary preventive measures are still needed to prevent new COVID-19 clusters from breaking out.

Noticed a high prevalence of mask nazis here in Thailand. You get scowled at if you're on a motorbike without a mask on FFS, but no helmet no worries. The numptys strolling down an empty beach or going for a swim fully masked up cracks me up ... TIT

Cheers and jeers in US as plane mask mandates are lifted
Airlines, subways and bus services across the United States moved quickly Tuesday to remove mask requirements following a federal court ruling that struck down face-covering mandates on public transportation, a hot-button issue throughout the pandemic.

Uber, Lyft and Amtrak were among the firms that announced an end to masking requirements hours after the decision was released, prompting reactions from travelers on social media.

In one clip, a Delta Air Lines pilot announcing the shift mid-flight is greeted by loud cheers. "Finally!" yells one passenger.

Considerably less enthusiastic was Scott Hechinger, an expert in public defender law, who also heard cheers at the airport, but became increasingly alarmed during the flight.

"There is so much sneezing and coughing. And people just breathing it in. Freedom," Hechinger tweeted.

Policymakers in Washington had decided last week to extend the federal mask mandate through May 3, but a federal judge struck that down on Monday, prompting an immediate wave of announcements from major airlines, including United Airlines and American Airlines.

The world is learning to live with Covid and without masks, but not in Thailand.

That's a misleading headline. The Supreme court ruling was that the CDC overreached it's authority in declaring mask mandates. It wasn't a ruling about health but about authority. The mask mandate has not 'been lifted' but deemed to have been done without the relevant authority.

As usual, context can change the whole meaning.

All day long I see farangs on motorcycles with no helmet, & no mask.. OK, what makes them so special..? Do they not witness the black looks from the locals..? It's hard enuf trying to keep the locals sweet & friendly, but you lot are taking the p*** on a daily basis (& while you're at it go back to your room & put a bloody shirt on to cover your fat belly ffs!).... Rant over!

Put it on in crowded places and shops, for sure - but wearing a mask on a motorbike or driving on your own is an exercise in stupidity IMO. Then again, this is the country with thousands of stupid laws.

Do you actually wear a mask on your MB or in your car

It's a tourist, beach holiday destination. Isn't the whole point of coming to, is to escape the nanny, pc EU, UK, USA world. Dress down and relax, if that's one's choice, their choice.

Should we all be in long pants & long sleeve shirts in the 30-35C weather. Maybe swim like the locals in full dress ... oh yea, and with a mask.

Body shaming ... really. Do you feel the same way and look at overweight locals with the same disgust.
Maybe they're quite comfortable in their skin.

Helmet part, I agree and idiots, besides illegal, but don't think the locals get offended by it. When in Rome
