This is still going on and has been every day for most of this year - people are sick of this junta. English language news rags seem to be avoiding reporting on it though.

Violence mars a night of protests in downtown Bangkok
Hundreds of protesters marched from Bangkok’s Pathumwan intersection to the German embassy on Sunday to submit a petition in response to a recent court ruling which determined that calls for reform of the institution was akin to treason.

It was the largest protest the country has seen in months.

The demonstrators gathered in response to last Wednesday’s constitutional court ruling that found three prominent activists guilty of attempting to overthrow the royal institution.

The court ruled that activists, Arnon Nampa, Panupong “Mike” Jadnok and Panusaya “Rung” Sithijirawattanakul had committed treason in speeches they gave last year.

As protesters began moved through the city, small-scale clashes occurred at the various police blockades set up to hinder their movements.

Small explosions were heard by Thai Enquirer journalists covering the event. Some witnesses told Thai Enquirer that they believed the Thalugaz, a fringe group of disenfranchised young men, were behind the firecrackers and “ping pong bombs.”

There were also reports of gunfire in the area with police using rubber bullets on the demonstrators.

Aljazeera gives a good report on the protests and some in depth explanation of their demands.

Because of the content, I can't show the link.

COPS TO SPEND 30 MIL. BAHT BUYING TEAR GAS, SOUND CANNONS
An opposition lawmaker challenged a proposal by the Royal Thai Police to buy more anti-riot equipment at the price tag of 30 million baht.

The purchase was announced on a police website, which stated that the force will buy 195,000 baht worth of chemical foams used in police cannon trucks from ABC Protection Supply; 23,166,000 baht of tear gas from K Tree Corporation; and over 12 million baht of Long Range Acoustic Device, or LRADs, from Engineering Reward (Thailand).

Throughout the past year, riot police often deployed those gears during clashes and skirmishes with anti-government protesters, leading to a number of injuries. Police have branded those gatherings as unlawful, since public assemblies are currently banned under the coronavirus emergency law.

Thai Sang Thai Party politician Nittcha Boonlue criticized the planned purchase. Nittcha said the money could have been better spent on other urgent matters, like tackling the coronavirus spread, proliferation of drugs, and crimes.

Good to see the junta has its priorities right, people are being plunged into poverty yet the money goes towards cracking down on protestors.

One way in, no way out: a month of travel bans against critical voices
November has seen a crackdown on freedom of movement as the Thai authorities have reportedly requested the Department of Consular Affairs to revoke the passports of 13 Thai activists and hastily expelled a foreigner who made fun of the government.

Given the "unofficial" announcement that Thailand Pass will end June 1, it will now be interesting to see if they'll cancel the emergency decree, which they have said has only been extend multiple times because of Covid.

I forget when the current 3 month decree extension expires but it's either the end of May, or the end of June I think.

If they don't end it, it becomes clear that it had little to do with Covid in the first place. All previous protesting parties have been calm and inactive, so a good chance I think that it will be cancelled in a wait and see type stance.
