Looking for a tow-rope to keep in the car. Anyone seen any decent ones for sale in Hua Hin?

Re: Tow-rope
Be careful with these things. For a big car you really need an offroad recovery strap type. A good one will be around 2,000 Baht. I think that I have seen a similar type in Thaiwatsadu or Global House.
ARB is a good brand, but no shop around Hua Hin.

Re: Tow-rope
Recovery straps are nylon webbing that uses nylon's elasticity to absorb the shock of pulling a vehicle back to where it can be started or towed. A tow strap or rope should be polyester as it is more abrasion resistant and stronger than polypropylene which is the typical rope found here.
Re: Tow-rope
There is both: a "snatch strap" that is elastic, and a plain webbing "tow strap" that is not elastic.mudcat wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 5:20 pm Recovery straps are nylon webbing that uses nylon's elasticity to absorb the shock of pulling a vehicle back to where it can be started or towed. Tow-rope
The webbing strap (non elastic) is what I’m wanting. I used the generic term tow-rope but wouldn’t use any type of rope type available on the market.
There are two options in the Thaiwatsadu website but the price/quality doesn’t appeal to me. Prefer something similar to the link you sent Nereus but with steel hooks with the spring latch.
Don’t plan on doing any towing but Mrs. GN had stuck car incident yesterday with her pal. Bolting the stable door too late but want to have one in the boot for ‘next time’.
Will have a further look online but my internet is crap offshore here.
Cheers!
Edit: seems to be plenty options on Lazada. Some with cheap shackles. Could replace them with a decent SS set.

Re: Tow-rope
Yes, shackles bought here can be death traps! There are "soft" shackles avaiable made from poly rope, I think there are some on Lazada.
Attachment points on the car are also important. There are hooks that can be bolted to the front chassis, if it has one. The rear really needs a towbar with a slide in tongue with an adapter and shackle. I will try and find a photo, but he also has them.
I guess that you are offshore, but if coming back here the following place is right near Swampy Airport.
He has every type of 4WD item every made, although not shown on his Website. Full range of ARB recovery gear from seperate items to full kits in a bag.

Re: Tow-rope
Here are a couple of links to what I posted. I must stress that strong towing points are a must, especially if the girls have to use them without you being there. Be aware that some cars have "tie down" rings welded to the chassis, or sub frame. These things are put there for shipping and must NOT be used for towing or recovery! Also, the front bumber MAY be bolted on with "crush cans", and therefore must not be used for towing.

Re: Tow-rope
Cheers Nereus!
A tow hitch is something I’ve been planning on getting for the Everest. Need it if I ever get the chance to take the trials bike on any ‘away’ trips. Getting a bike rack in Thailand is another matter…. trailer out of the question due to storage.

Re: Tow-rope
Pushbike racks are available here, I have one on the Land Rover. For a motorbike I guess that you would need to have one made. Those receiver towbars are good for 300 - 400 kg down weight, so should not be a problem. Finding someone to make it may be a problem!
There are a couple of 4WD shops in Ban Pong that make bar work and steel bumpers, so should be able to make a simple bike rack.
