In fact the British Medical Journal (BMJ) which most people would acknowledge as a leading and honest authority, say that Covid vaccines (generally not Pfizer specific), certainly helped in reducing illness and avoiding hospitalisation, rather than preventing transmission.

Re: Did Covid Happen?
How do they know that? If people didn't report illness and didn't go to the hospital, how can there be data about them?Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 6:21 pm In fact the British Medical Journal (BMJ) which most people would acknowledge as a leading and honest authority, say that Covid vaccines (generally not Pfizer specific), certainly helped in reducing illness and avoiding hospitalisation, rather than preventing transmission.

Par Ex: 3 people in our family got ill but didn't go to the dr. or the hospital, so only family and friends know about it. I'm sure that happened in the UK, and those people would not show up in the studies or statistics.
Re: Did Covid Happen?
The number of shots given is a matter of record. The number of people being hospitalised is also a matter of record as is the deaths.
Surely with that data, you can assess the effect on hospitalisations and deaths, both of which are reducing, compared with when there was no vaccine.
Agreed that people who 'self isolate' without reporting it as well as asymptomatic cases will not show up in the numbers.
Sounds like simple maths to me.

Re: Did Covid Happen?
This was always going to be the case with a rushed implementation of vaccinations. The process is long and drawn out for a reason usually including hundreds of millions (and often billions) of investment during the research process. This process simply wasn't viable in a global crisis.HuaHin61 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 3:19 pm 'Is it time to apologize to the world?'

No government, or research facility, was offered the normal amount of time as they were responding to an emergency of which we weren't prepared for. It was risk/reward and the rewards won on data. The vaccines saved countless lives of the elderly and the unwell.
What is problematic is the rushed vaccination of children and the under 40/50s. And it is problematic, when they eventually knew it did nothing to stop transmission (again, guess work, is what it is). Particularly, when you account for people losing their jobs and children not being able to attend school without taking it. I don't believe history will look back fondly of how populations were given a choice of covid vaccine or jobs/education

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... id-19.htmlThe authors of two United Nations reports into the origins of the pandemic say they believe a laboratory leak was the most likely cause of Covid-19, accusing top British and American scientists of helping China deliberately to suppress debate on the issue.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/0 ... ain-lived/Professor Carl Heneghan pointed out in this newspaper on Friday that he told No 10 explicitly that it was about to impose draconian restrictions on the basis of “wrong information”.
He thought to himself: “The public won’t forgive you when they find out they are being fed a narrative of fear based on untruths.”
While our powers of recall may be fading, we must forever remember those who do not have the luxury of moving on from lockdown.
It has had terrible consequences.

Re: Did Covid Happen?
Kinda unrelated, but I see Djokovic has just pulled out of the Indian Wells as he can't gain entry to the US due to being unvaccinated. That man's a twat, and the restrictions are no longer there from April...but, I mean, really!? It's 2023. Reminds us how idiotic the whole covid response was.
Furthermore, the leak of Matt Hancock WhatsApps (the lockdown files) proved the lockdown skeptics right. It was all nonsense based on false data. The Lancets research results on how previous infection offers better protection than any of the vaccines (herd immunity was best) proved the skeptics right again. School closures have drastically affected children's social, emotional and behavioural development (I have first hand experience on this one and it's shocking the damage done).
The whole thing was a shit-show and the continued revelations, now with more data at hand, are, unfortunately, playing into the hands of all the 'crazy yahoos' as, again unfortunately, a lot of the shit they were saying proved to be true.

Re: Did Covid Happen?
If you'd already had covid there was absolutely ZERO need to take the vaccine as you already had better protection from it than a vaccine could give. Something that was said often during the Covid panic. Instead, governments forced everyone to take the vaccine if they wished to have freedom of movement and access to certain spaces.
Doesn't matter which side you take, looking back on it... this is pretty fked up, yes?

Obviously my memory differs. I don't remember being forced to take anything. I thought we all had a choice.

Edit: I can't remember Thailand's situation to be fair. Were you ever needed to provide vaccine status to go about your regular day-to-day? Maybe not.

As far as I know, no. Even at events such as football, you could take a test at the stadium.

Re: Did Covid Happen?
Fair enough. In the UK it was somewhat different. I had a couple of events I went to in which I needed to provide evidence of a covid vaccine. Utterly bizarre now looking back on it. Something out of the twilight zone.
I know it's easy with hindsight, but all of it, every single thing—from the lockdowns to the paused education and rushed vaccinations of children—it was all outrageous.
The whole episode will be a stain on human history but, hopefully, we've learnt enough from it to not repeat such actions.

Re: Did Covid Happen?
The tweeter here is a proper tool but unfortunately they're all emboldened now with many of the facts proving them correct. But this clip is a perfect illustration for how completely lost everyone truly was during that time. We lost our sense and humanity. Overwhelmed with doom-mongering and data, we played along with the news and restrictions like the little idiots we were. Horrific.

Re: Did Covid Happen?
Actually, I was reminiscing with somebody earlier today, and we agreed that Covid was not at all bad. Especially now we're at the arse end of what has been quite a hectic high season, it'll be lovely to see everybody go home. Simple things like driving on empty roads, not worrying about if I'll be able to park when I get somewhere and not worrying about whether I'll get a table when I go for breakfast. The simple things in life that were never a problem during Covid have been a nightmare for about 4 months now.
