Blue and Yellow bookstore?

Post by LolaBeltran »

Any word on what has happened to Blue and Yellow bookstore? They dont answer the phone (not sure they ever did as I never called before) but three times I have been by over the past week or two and they have been closed during advertised business hours. I will miss them if they are out of business!

Not a place I've ever used, but I did read somewhere today that it has just re-opened today, or will be re-opening sometime this week. I didn't really take that much notice.

You can always go to the monthly Book Swap at I Rice Restaurant.
It takes place every 10th of the month from 11am to 3pm, just turn up, no need to leave any books but you can if you wish and help yourself to what you like all free.
Also you don't have to eat at the restaurant.

Can anyone tell me is Blue and Yellow still open, and is it in any way a charity or just a second hand book seller/exchange?

I've just seen this ad - the address looks about right. Is this the place you are looking for?

Yes I think that should be the one BB, location seems right. Looks more like a second hand book store than a charity (unless they are non-profit, which I guess I need to find out). Thanks.

It's a second hand book shop.

Large stock conveniently sorted in alphabetical order.

If you are specifically looking for a charity bookshop, I've just come across this one in Hua Hin. However, they close after today for 2 week whilst the owner is on holiday. https://www.facebook.com/squigglescharityshoppe/

Thank very much BB. Books don't get impatient so I'll wait. :) I'm checking them out a little as I do any charity I considering giving to. I'll report back so that others can see too.

They are not an actual shop where you can browse, a lady runs it from her home to help a dog charity. You have to look at the FB page and message her with any items you want to buy, pay online then arrange to collect from the security gatehouse in front of the compound. :thumb:

Thanks Pagey, that sounds OK, and they seem to have a tie-up with The Adoptable Puppy Cafe too. The website offers 'buy online at cost plus shipping' and I was thinking website, etc. but I think I was overthinking what looks like a genuine effort to help animals on a small scale. It's just that as well as not giving money to scammers, I also generally try to avoid charities with big overheads. :thumb:

Off topic: I've lost touch with www.animalsasia.org recently and will re-establish my occasional donations. A larger and very genuine animal welfare organisation run by a lovely and committed lady. They don't only help enslaved Vietnamese bears now, although that was a worthy enough cause!
