Think I'm the only MotoGP fan on here. Rossi was a huge part of the sport and will be missed.

Last saw him race in Sepang in 2018 where I managed to get a shot of him going round one of the "slower" corners.

Zarco fastest in Thai MotoGP practice

https://www.bangkokpost.com/sports/2404 ... p-practice (Photo)

BURI RAM: Johann Zarco of France was quickest in unexpectedly dry conditions for the opening practice sessions at the Thai MotoGP on Friday, pipping world championship title contender Francesco Bagnaia.

Riders had one eye on the overcast sky over the Chang International Circuit in Buri Ram.

But the rain stayed away for both practice sessions as Zarco — a Ducati rider seeking his first MotoGP win — clocked a leading time of one minute and 30.281 seconds in the afternoon.

Ducati dominated as Italian Bagnaia, who is trailing world champion Fabio Quartararo by 18 points in the standings with four races left, was second-fastest. He was just 0.018sec off Zarco.

Spain’s Jorge Martin was third.

Six-time MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez, who is working his way back to full fitness after surgery, was fourth-fastest across both sessions.

Under-pressure Quartararo of France, who has seen his championship lead whittled away by Bagnaia in the second half of the season, came fifth on his Yamaha.

The third of the serious title contenders, Aleix Espargaro from Spain, finished outside the top 10 for Aprilia along with Italy’s Enea Bastianini.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast for qualifying on Saturday.

MotoGP is returning for the first time since 2019 because of coronavirus disruptions.

Leading times from the first two practice sessions:

Johann Zarco (FRA/Ducati-Primac) 1min 30.281sec
Francesco Bagnaia (ITA/Ducati) at 0.018sec
Jorge Martin (ESP/Ducati-Primac) 0.190
Marc Marquez (ESP/Honda) 0.242
Fabio Quartararo (FRA/Yamaha) 0.274
Jack Miller (AUS/Ducati) 0.307
Luca Marini (ITA/Ducati-VR46) 0.313
Miguel Oliveira (POR/KTM) 0.327
Alex Rins (ESP/Suzuki) 0.360
Franco Morbidelli (ITA/Yamaha) 0.484

Martin turns in best Thai MotoGP practice run

BURI RAM: Jorge Martin of Spain topped the Thai MotoGP practice time sheet on Saturday ahead of an in-form Australian Jack Miller.

Conditions were dry during Saturday morning’s practice at the Chang International Circuit in Buri Ram, despite a cloudy sky and forecasts for rain.

Martin, riding a Ducati, clocked the fastest lap, 1:30.2050 Saturday while Miller, fresh from last week’s MotoGP victory in Japan, was 0.012 seconds behind the pace.

Stellar performances at Friday’s practice sessions by Frenchman Johann Zarco and title contender Italian Francesco Bagnaia helped them secure third and fourth spots respectively in the combined results.

Quartararo — who has an 18-point lead in the championship standings over Bagnaia, with four races left — finished in fifth spot.

It was a disappointing morning for six-time MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez, riding Honda, and serious title contender Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro, both from Spain — failing to finish in the top 10.

Leading times from the combined three practice sessions for the Thai Grand Prix:

Jorge Martin (ESP/Ducati-Pramac) 1min30.205sec
Jack Miller (AUS/Ducati)at 0.012sec
Johann Zarco (FRA/Ducati-Pramac) 0.076
Francesco Bagnaia (ITA/Ducati) 0.094
Fabio Quartararo (FRA/Yamaha) 0.105
Brad Binder (AFS/KTM)0.200
Alex Rins (ESP/Suzuki) 0.239
Enea Bastianini (ITA/Ducati-Gresini) 0.287
Marco Bezzecchi (ITA/Ducati-VR46) 0.308
Luca Marini (ITA/Ducati-VR46) 0.311.

I'm assuming the obvious issue is that Live Streaming is not an option due to time difference or simply not able to view...

Is it not possible to capture Live Streams? I'm certainly no expert and have always watched the Live Stream (several sports) rather than downloading anything after the fact. Just having the briefest of looks, I may look at trying something along these lines (especially for southern hemisphere rugby) - any comments/advice buks?

Live Streams that I use and find to be reliable: -

https://www.vipstand.st/
https://buffstreams.sx/
https://myp2p.biz/index.php?part=home
http://www.sportp2p.com/live-sport/

Possible software/ideas(?): -

https://www.screencapture.com/blog/how- ... video.html

[EDIT] I realise the majority of those are more for recording/editing your own Live Streams, but can some be used to capture streams on the above or similar sites?

I gave up on those live stream websites because most of them are full of porn ads and malware or they simply buffer too much to make them watchable. In Thailand, PPTV36 shows MotoGP but the buffering is intolerable or you can only get it in pixelated SD which looks shite on a big screen.

Hence I have no problems downloading and watching races in crispy FHD the next day with no interruptions.

I agree. Maybe they work differently here in Thailand, but when pharvey offered them to me, it took ages to cleanse the crap from my laptop.

MotoGP: F1 owner Liberty Media buys series in deal valued at £3.6bn

https://www.bbc.com/sport/motorsport/68707565

Formula 1 owner Liberty Media has bought MotoGP in a deal valued at £3.6bn.

The US media conglomerate, which took control of F1 in 2017, has purchased the motorbike series from Spanish company Dorna Sports, which has owned MotoGP since 1992.

The deal will see Liberty acquire about 86% of Dorna, with Dorna's management retaining the rest of the business.

It is expected to be officially completed by the end of the year.

Greg Maffei, Liberty Media president and chief executive officer, said the company was "thrilled" to be expanding its live sports portfolio.

He added: "MotoGP is a global league with a loyal, enthusiastic fan base, captivating racing and a highly cash flow generative financial profile.

"The business has significant upside, and we intend to grow the sport for MotoGP fans, teams, commercial partners and our shareholders."

Dorna chief executive officer Carmelo Ezpeleta said Liberty has an "incredible track record in developing sports assets".

"We are proud of the global sport we've grown, and this transaction is a testament to the value of the sport today and its growth potential," Ezpeleta added.

The first MotoGP season took place in 1949 with just six rounds of racing but has now grown into 20-grands prix campaign, covering five continents.

Spanish rider Jorge Martin is top of this year's championship on 60 points followed by Brad Binder of South Africa on 42 points.

I just watched a race from what I think is some kind of American Cup Championship series. I'll tell you, it's more exciting than F1 in that the bike groupings battle in 3-4's side by side for many laps, and some who go down and skid across the track. If you want some racing excitement on a smaller machine scale, I suggest you watch a few races.
