Swimming pool equipment

Post by Dannie Boy »

I have a saltwater pool and the equipment is still working fine, but the problem I have is that the LCD screen on the chlorinator control panel has faded and it’s extremely difficult to read the display - does anybody know if it’s possible to get it refurbished or does it have to be a replacement unit?

when my display went down on my emaux it was not economical to repair as no warranty and was over half the price for a replacement.

Most LCD display panels are generic, not made by the chlorinator manufacturer. In a home country it is usually easy to find a replacement panel. Most of them just plug in like any other PCB, but some are soldered in.

In this throw away country I doubt that you can find one, although Lazada do list a couple of them. At one time there was a good Thai tech in Hua Hin that could replace them, but he has since moved to Bangkok.

You could try and see if the control panel is able to be opened and check on how the LCD is connected, and it may have a seperate part number or name on it.

Hi guys, thanks for your replies - the chlorinate is a Zodiac make - I’ve had a quick look and there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to open it up and don’t want to disconnect from the power due to the difficulty of resetting it.

I have a pool guy who will come and look at it but I’m sure his view will be take out the old one and fit a new one!!

Maybe not relevant to equipment but recently I've suffered a bit of red eye and ear discomfort. The salt water pool is checked and cleaned twice a week in the gated village. I bought a PH meter and found that the PH reading was around 3.5 when it should be between 7.4 and 7.6. When I checked the record of visits by the pool maintenance team they recorded the PH at 7.8 without fail. I call that buffalo poo! I've rectified the situation by adding baking soda but it shouldn't be my job to do this.

So just a heads up for those who have contracts with pool maintenance, it might be a good idea to invest in a PH meter and also salt level meter.
