As far as I know, you get it when you have a B-visa and work permit. Not sure how individuals on retirement visas can get one, it shouldn't be necessary as they can't work or earn in Thailand.

I'd consider changing your bank!

The lawyer told me that most of those looking for Thai TIN’s are from Iceland – don’t think I ever meet someone from Iceland?

Got a feeling all Aussie banks will on the same page. Not really a big problem for me, I already moved most of the money into my daughter’s account.
