Different Fuel Grades - How to Choose
Re: Different Fuel Grades - How to Choose
Shell V power diesel is noticeably better in my car but I fill up with it once a month due to the price. The once a month change is better than not doing it and it only means taking the fifty percent price hit less frequently.

Also look for the"5" as in ยูโร 5 (Euro 5).Big Boy wrote:This is what Bangchak sell. I can't tell the difference between B7s, so haven't got a clue what non-gasohol 95 octane is.

Different Fuel Grades - How to Choose
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the sudden appearance of many Bangchak Petrol Stations. On a trip through Bangkok yesterday they were very obvious. I'd never heard of them but Google being my friend had the answer. They've recently completed the acquisition of Esso Thailand who have now exited the country. Very quick to change the signage.
So if anyone else was curious, then that's the answer.

Re: Different Fuel Grades - How to Choose
In reading this thread out of interest as we have some friends that are visiting (without us unfortunately), there seems to be a fair few changes with regards to fuel/providers in Thailand - "Third Parties" (i.e. China) involved?

I knew they were taking over Esso, but they appear to be aiming to take over the world. Much more than Esso stations have found their way on to their portfolio. There are definitely a few PT stations that have been taken over, including my regular station (thankfully only selling the proper B7 still).HHTel wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 5:32 pm I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the sudden appearance of many Bangchak Petrol Stations. It seems everyone knew but me. I don't travel to BKK very often but the trip there and back yesterday was the first time I'd noticed Bangchak. As you say, they appear to be taking over the world. It seemed like every other station was Bangchak!
Re: Different Fuel Grades - How to Choose
Bangchak have always been around though may be not so present in petchaburi and prachuabkhirikhan. I've often stopped at the bangchak station in samut sogkhram on the rama 2 road in the salt farms area.
They own the huge refinery in Bangchak, Bangkok. Hence the name.
Along with the Esso takeover they seem to have changed their logo.
Bangchak also bought the PTT station on petchkasem at hua him tan samai, coincidentally to the new PTT station at smor phrong being built.

Or avoid if you can't tell the difference between the 2 B7s

Old logo until recently:

The old logo makes more sense - there were quite a few of those around previously. I'd never experienced the 2 B7 fuels before though.

When I used to go to Issan a lot, we always used to stop and take a break at that service station on the way back to Hua Hin.
It had a relaxing small restaurant overlooking the salt flats.
As soon as I saw that logo, I thought of the place.
