Went there again yesterday and asked about the nam phrik ong when I was leaving as I didn´t see it anywhere. The owners said that they have it so that´s something I´ll have when I go there next time. Kaeng Hung Leh is in one of the trays at the entrance of the place. Just ask for it, if you want to try it.

Hi Bamboo Grove,

Like to check out this nothern thai food restaurant soon. Closes at 17.00 eh? Can you give more specific directions (directions for dummies). Has the place a name or a easy recognizable sign?

Thanks in advance.
We are all living in 'the good old days' of the future.

It´s easy to find. When you come to the palace and park area, find soi 50. It´s in the corner of the main road and the soi 50. No clear signs but when you look in you can see different curries on display.

On a recent trip to Chiang Mai, my friends took me to Phu Jaya Resort for dinner (up in the hills on the Samoeng Loop). I like name prik ong, but this was my first time to have geng hang ley. Delicious! :)

I'll be visiting that shop on Soi 50 for sure .. and hoping their geng hang ley matches that of Phu Jaya.

issan food

Post by nightstalker »

drive towards cha am, past the larger issan restaurants, opposite the entrance to the army base you see a large figure of a man, there is a raised thai style restaurant, quiet old, run by a soldiers wife and family, great somtam and spicy dishes, also you get to mingle with the local parachute regiment. will remind your gf/wife of home cooked food, great prices also.

The new BAAN ISSAN about soi 6 is not bad, only there once and prices seemed ok.
