No chances
Funny how things change in the space of a month.
Be prepared for it to be deferred!!

Really, I can't think of any reason they why they would defer

Cases of Covid going up. Not going to happen.
Politicians or population don't want it to happen. Not going to happen.
They haven't reached the vaccine targets. Already passed that.

On the other hand......

They still need the money.
5 Province Governors don't want to lose face.

and....

Oh yeah they still need the money

Why would anyone want to vacation here? What are the attractions?

So that loved ones can reunite with their Tiraks!!

Any genuine tourists will be mightily disappointed with what they find

Or love what they don't find, uncrowded beaches.

Phuket was the best it ever was, after a 10 yr break from visiting for us in 20 yrs / 20 visits, twice a yr, 10 yrs running (1999-2010). Lack of touristy stuff we don't use, didn't matter. But agree, most tourist want all that and wouldn't enjoy the rows of shuttered surfside road vendors. Even the big chain fast food & 7-11s shuttered.

Way too many hoops to jump through, for us (if int'l tourist), even if all was open. Can revisit now, but the risk of a positive test and 2 week holiday in private hospital is way too high risk for me 😎 As soon as that's gone, we'll be back for this high season, hopefully. As next 2022/23 might be too crowded.

Yep, you can have an empty beach but forget about traveling, exploring, partying, dining out, nightlife, or any of the other 'attractions' that Thailand used to offer.

There is absolutely no reason at all to come here unless you have prior 'ties' to Thailand.

For well-balanced people looking for a few weeks with warmer weather and not having family / spouse / residence here these numbers will seem uninviting with 15,191 newly infected and 253 fatalities just some weeks before the said opening so the chance is slim. Add the knowledge that in case of any Corona related disease the eventually tourists will be treated at a field hospital. Some will argue that Phuket have been a success...hmm with more new infections and fatalities than ever?? Yes mostly not sand boxer's but locals because when business start to swing around again what naturally happens then and who come together then for benefit from new jobs and work. Will it be different here.....I unfortunately doubt that.

^^ I don't think covid +ve tourists will end up in field hospitals. They have insurance so will go to hospital or "hospitel". Still not a great holiday though.

Hi, possibly a bit off subject but I wonder if anyone knows of a source for the current rules on (non-Thais) travelling from PCK to Mae Hong Son (by car)? This would be deep red to orange. I know about the need to register online in advance but I’m so far unable to find out if (a) the province is still closed to non-Thais, and (b) if it’s open, then if self-isolation is required on arrival in MHS.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction
