Cabinet cuts water, electricity bills for 2 months
The measures use February’s discounted electricity tariff.
Homes that use up to 150 units of electricity per month will get the first 90 units for free.
Homes that use more than 150 units per month but no more than their February usage will be charged the discounted tariff.
Homes that use more than in February, up to 500 units per month, pay the February rate.
Homes that use 501-1,000 units per month pay the discounted rate up to the value of their February bill, then +50 percent for additional units.
Homes using more than 1,000 units per month pay the discounted rate up to the value of their February bill, then +70 percent for additional units.
Small businesses (excluding government agencies and state enterprises) get the first 100 units free of charge.
Medium and large enterprises, specialised enterprises, non-profit organisations, and agricultural irrigation operations will be relieved of the minimum charge until the end of December, paying according to the actual power they consume.
For water use, bills to homes and small businesses will be cut by 10 percent in August and September.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet said public education institutions will consider cutting tuition and other fees for the first term of 2021.

Yeah right - and it'll be doubled again the months after the discount, thanks for nothin. Our water bills have doubled over the past two months and we've tested for leaks. No chance of a discount from private schools either.

Re: Electricity and Water Charges
I don't know if anybody else has received their electricity bill yet (mine isn't due for 2 more days), but my daughter and her neighbours have received theirs, and they are saying a 20% to 30% increase this month. Usage has been about the same.
Has anybody else had theirs yet? Can they confirm please?

Will let you know when we get it, but it doesn't surprise me as they did this before - discount for one month then take back the next.

My daughter's bill (always much smaller than mine) is usually a good indicator, but I thought the 'assist package' was through to the end of the year.

Re: Electricity and Water Charges
According to the article above it was just for 2 months. Either way, the way they calculate it is an enigma - ours varies wildly with no correlation to actual usage. I'm not looking forward to getting it now!

Re: Electricity and Water Charges
I've never seen discounts or increases despite all the publicity. My electric bill has been stable within a couple of hundred baht for at least 2 years. Never varies.
Re: Electricity and Water Charges
Think it goes by usage. Obviously if high usage, you don't need assistance. We average about 635 units a month, according to last 4 (full) months. Remember the wife stating a while back we got a discount, must have been for March & April, as out & about for half the month those 2 months, so lowest bills for past 6 months.
Our meter died, which they actually replaced or jump started today, so I guess they"ll average the last 6 months and bill us accordingly. Left this printout in the slot the other day, so expecting a 2150 bill.

Re: Electricity and Water Charges
For the month of August I used 94 units and my bill was less than 41 baht!
According to posts on this forum and Thai Visa(as was) I calculate at 4.2 baht per unit including vat although appreciate it's not as simple as that(Anyone know better, please correct me)
That would be 395 baht, so a discount for sure. Maybe because I used less than 100kwh or something(guessing)
I have had months in the past where despite increased usage my bill remained precisely the same. So I have certainly seen discounts and caps

Re: Electricity and Water Charges
94 units ...
That's less than 5 days' usage for us, as we average about 21 units a day, past 4 months. Last bill was 625 units @ ฿2151. So total billed @ 3.4415 / unit. Bill states a discount (?) of ฿78 which without, would raise the rate to ฿3,5664 / unit.
Be interesting what this month's per unit will be.

Re: Electricity and Water Charges
I believe that 41 Baht is what they bill as a “standing charge” for zero consumption, so as you suggested, there may be no charge for less than 100 units.thecolonel wrote:For the month of August I used 94 units and my bill was less than 41 baht!
