HHAD on the move

Post by Lev »

Due to increasing unreliability with our current web host we will be moving the website and forum to a new one within the coming month.

An announcement of the actual date will be made a few days beforehand and while we expect down time to be minimal we apologise in advance if there is any.

Subsequent to the server transfer the forum will also be moved to a new domain name separate from the huahinafterdark.com one in an effort to further expand our reach. Other than this, the HHAD website and forum will remain unchanged.

As long as it's forward progress! :D :D

I'm active on a couple of other forums with different forum engines and this one is the most intuitive and the fastest to refresh screens... :thumb:

So how does it all work? Is the forum just a customised instance of a commercial program? And then it is hosted by a company that manages the traffic flow? Is the host responsible for the fast flow or the program?

Correct, the software is a modified open source package from phpbb.com
mabubba wrote:And then it is hosted by a company that manages the traffic flow?
Yes, it resides on a server in the US.

Speed of loading largely down to the individuals internet connection however it can slow down on occasion when the server gets overloaded and is not configured to handle that load (such as our current one). We are sincerely hoping that the new host will solve this issue.

We are currently aiming for the first week in January for the transfer, notices will be posted in advance.

The hosting transfer will proceed on Thursday, January 6 at 11.00am Bangkok time.

The forum will be set to 'read only' and posting will not be possible until the process is complete, we hope downtime is kept to a minimum. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and hope to have HHAD back online and fully operational by mid afternoon.

Thanks for your support.

We are now running on the new server, there seems to have been the odd minor glitch but overall the process went smoothly. We are looking into the missing user uploaded images issue now.

We will announce the domain name change a week or so before it happens.

Same here, its an ISP or browser cache problem - keep refreshing and it'll show the real one.

A better way of seeing latest topics is to use the view new posts link instead of the latest topics - works for me!
