More crime in Hua Hin
More crime in Hua Hin
Sorry mods if this is in the wrong section.
If anyone remembers my last post about being drugged, and then the house 2 doors up trying to be broken into with 2 men with guns. There has been new developements,3 nights ago a back window was broken at my estate, they ransacket it but the bloke who owns it was away, there was not anything of value, but they tryed to get into the safe, to no avail. Then they go 2 doors up, break a side window and hold a lady at gun point for 15 minutes while they stole all money gold and whatever, including a mobile phone etc. Then just now my house cleaner [really getting to be girlfriend] got to the end of my soi where a passing bike through a rock at her spliting her lip, i am convinced they where trying to knock her off her bike and i assume rob her, they had a hand full of rocks but only the small one got her[the rest hit the bike etc] they had full face helmets on so she could not make them out. by now she was just about to phetkasem rd, so they scarpered. I suppose all i am trying to say is, things are not good. And i have come up with a theory, these attakes are on Thai girls who are with farang men, knowing that we sometimes have to travel away,[as the first 3 casses were,] or they are thinking ahhh farang = money thai girl = gold and money. So we have put up a lot more security lights alarmed our homes etc. But i think we as visiters here better start being a bit more diligent, i am not sure if its me, but there sure seems to be more going on these last few months. I think i started to let my gaurd down, this has been a big wake up for me. Please be carefull everyone, its not all beaches, smiles, and mai thais.btw, I am not putting the place down or trying to give it a bad rap, just telling my story for information porposes and your safety

Re: More crime in Hua Hin
ahhhhh not really a good thing to hear/read, particularly with guns involved.
Brave I may be, but 10 foot tall and bullet proof, NOT since first went on operations many years ago.
Caution the obvious only answer, and maybe a very big savage dog or 2.
Given the alternative of farang vigilanty justice by a few, would only see us in huge trouble with the local constablary.

Re: More crime in Hua Hin
Crime is a problem everywhere, especially now, with money so hard to find and people have got used to (through a good economy), in the past, having a certain amount of money to solve their lives..........not anymore. HH, along with a few other foreigner hot-spots, would seem like a magnet for these unsavory types to gravitate towards in order to commit crimes that will probably never be investigated.
Everyone should take their safety and house security seriously as there are many perps here that are all too willing to target foreigners because we are considered as a soft target coupled with the unlikely prospect of any police action after the deed.

Re: More crime in Hua Hin
and again I refer to real life exmples of where a system within Thailand is better set up to address the issues.
In Phuket the governor, recognising that a large minority within the community are "farangs" has regular meetings with the local honourary consuls and representatives of the "farang" community at which issues are flagged up. There when policing matters are brought up, said head scuffer is put on the spot by the governor. Action results.
In Hua Hin this does not happen, despite a reported uptick in crime. Here the police appear to do nothing and moreover get away with their inactivity. Ive yet to hear of any form of consultative interface with either the council or police involving farang representatives. Police holding dictatorial finger wagging sessions perhaps....but consultation? Not as Ive heard.
I suggest someone concerned enough gets organised and starts asking for a regular interface with the police and council honchos. That MAY result in something being done
Otherwise, hold up that bowl and say "Please sir can I have some more"...and in light of tehPhuket (and Patayya) examples of consultation and co-operation I suggest we change the oft repeted mantra from TIT to TIHH

Jimmy the crime rate will allways escalate before and after songkran be on your gard also canvass your local area and encourage foke to have cameras at the ready also consider getting personal protection items such as a stun gun and pepper spray if I lived anywhere full time in Thailand I would have a few of these to hand and I would think about CCTV.
Maybe Super Joe could advise on the latter.

I agree concerning the Songkran issue. No matter where you are, any houses/developments of substance are at high risk this time of year and at traditional New Year as well. Hopefully things will calm down for you in a week or so, and stay calm. Pete

I think it's about easy money to party with my house in Surin has been targeted before but it is well laid out and elevated by a metre so the windows are very high.
If you love your home dig in mate, exchange phone numbers with other residents you could do a lot here to help each other.

Maybe I should have left my fence electrified...
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: More crime in Hua Hin
I work away and have just had a call from wife to tell me that 2 spineless Thai W*****S,broke into my house last night (Soi 6),Tied up my wife ,her friend and my Nanny at Gun Point, then proceeded to go through every room in the house, emptying all the drawers & wardrobes & taking anything of value. My daughter who is only 2yrs old was asleep in her cot and thankfully never woke, which is a blessing. They took 200,000bt worth of gold,my wifes Engagement Diamond ring & wedding ring, cash and mobile phones off all 3 of the girls. The Police so far seem to be doing all they can,I hope they find these Cowards,I would willingly pay them a substantial amount of cash to have 15mins with the 2 of them alone in a room.I am Ex-Royal Marine from UK,so harming them would cause me no lack of sleep whatsoever.
Everyone be careful out there, because the guys that commit these crimes are carrying firearms ,cowards and desperate which is a dangerous combination.

Re: More crime in Hua Hin
Very sorry to hear about that deepdown and hope the bastards are caught.
How did they break in? With those kind of valuables hanging around I assume you have a decent peice of security kit?
How long have you been with your wife may I ask?
Hope everything works out for you but please ,if only for my sake (but I know others would appreciate it also) could we not add..

Nobody cares if you are Ex-Royal Marine and it sure as hell doesn't make you powerful here. Stinks of the Pattaya guys screaming how they are ex-SAS and does you no favours. Just a word of advice.I am Ex-Royal Marine from UK,so harming them would cause me no lack of sleep whatsoever.
If it's within arms reach, there's nothing to worry about!!
