My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: The WOW Science Thread
I thought I could entertain you with a phenomena that I doubt is visible in Thailand very often, the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis.
The picture has been taken by a friend of mine, a very good hobby photographer called Tommy Skog. You can see a lot more of his pictures (and in higher resolution) at his Facebook page.

THE SLEEPER AWAKES
Stealing the quote from one of my favorite sci-fi epic novel series DUNE, as Paul Muad D'Ib says: The Sleeper Has Awoken.
After three years of drifting through the great beyond in "deep sleep" the ESA's Rosetta space vehicle, designed to monitor and investigate comets, has been successfully woken up and retasked.

Re: The WOW Science Thread
For - off- wordly exploration and settlement I strongly reccomend Steven Baxter's latest "novel" Proxima.
I say "novel" because it is science fiction (at it's best) but as science based, real - future as we can phatom it.
I wanted to include the link to amazon.co.uk but I understand there is a moderator with some, for me not understandable, adverse relationship to commercial links.

Frank, if you would like to understand, read the Forum Rules that you agreed to when you signed up to use this forum. You will then know what commercial links you can and can not post.Frank La Rue wrote:but I understand there is a moderator with some, for me not understandable, adverse relationship to commercial links.

To know the rules - is you what you really refer to, that is different from understanding the rules, which depends on your perspective. For some like me, maybe they are not to understand but remove.Big Boy wrote:Frank, if you would like to understand, read the Forum Rules that you agreed to when you signed up to use this forum. Re: The WOW Science Thread
Great stuff guys!.
I don't take any pictures myself, I am strictly a visual observer.
There are many members in our club and others who do take lots of pictures.
I was able to be a judge for this years most interesting and best in 3 categories,
it was a most interesting night.
My big interest in the hobby is to try see the small stuff through my telescope and the 14 inch
scope of the observatory. I have managed to see the little speck that is Pluto. I may have been able to see one of the biggest stars in the Galaxy, and we were all fortunate to see the latest
supernova. One of the members was able to get some photos of it, through the 14inch. as well as his own camera and telescope.
Thanks again

As you say mind boggling but what is even more amazing is that this was predicted by Einstein almost 100 years ago - the label "a Genius" doesn't do him justice.
