It's just called Dr Mike's revenge - getting his own back on you for giving him a hard time. :D

Regarding exorbitant bills (we've got some as well) - that just goes with the territory. No NHS in Thailand I'm afraid. I'd be more interested if you could PM some bills that were not exorbitant.

Many friends who obviously have no problem with the place.

Don't be so defensive, Richard. You post a completely irrelevant and by-the-way criticism of Bangkok Hospital (since your OP was about your lasik stuff) and others choose to balance it with their own positive experiences of the place. It's not an attack on you personally.

Assuming RUTNIN is a hospital (sorry, you'll have to excuse my ignorance), it would be interesting to see a breakdown of their charges as a comparison to what Bangkok Hospital and San Paulo have charged us in the past. Obviously, the actual treatments would not be comparing like with like, but hotel charges, nursing charges etc would provide a good comparison.

Put my two pennyworth in would never visit SP again, money grabbing Buggers!

GF had a mild case of denque fever, they would not let her out of the place saying needed this and that more days in bed etc etc Cost me a fortune. I pulled her out in the end and they didn't like it.

Never again!

My eyes are both on +5, most people here talk about minus numbers. Is this treatment OK for plus eyes :D

No one is disputing that. So why are you comparing it with all of the general hospitals in HH?

WHY not?

Is it wrong to make comparisons between similar services?

DTM think you are now ready to qualify for the SJ & Mr. P circus

Sorry guys and gals if I posted facts that hurt. Time I guess for me to become a 'sheeple'   :thumb:

How can I put this without being offensive? Difficult, but I'll try.

1. Bangkok Hospital, Hua Hin - General Hospital
2. San Paolo, Hua Hin - General Hospital
3. Hua Hin Hospital, Hua Hin - General Hospital

4. Rutnin Eye Hospital, Bangkok (the website title, not mine) - The clue is in the name; it's an eye hospital. They specialise. If your appendix bursts or you break your arm, they can't help you. Just like 1, 2 and 3 can't fix your eyesight.

They are not similar services.
There is no comparison.
Why can't you see that?

Sorry DTM :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I'm not talking about specialties I'm talking about the basics. Hospital processing, cleanliness, efficiency and costs.

Whether it's eye, ear, heart or whatever we should be able to evaluate their basic efficiency

Out of this banter mate. Enjoy your own sad waffle

Well done Buksi! My friend here in the UK had both eyes done earlier this year on the NHS. They won't do both together. She is 68 and like you had worn specs - varifocals - since her early teens, so is well pleased now with her distance vision. Maybe also due to age she had soreness and watering of the eyes for quite a while afterwards, but the improvement in peripheral vision, as well as distance of course, has noticeably improved her driving!
But there was no mention of any future possibility of the laser varifocal correction, which someone mentioned earlier.
I guess that in many ways the NHS lags behind in new treatments. On the plus side it can be done free for some people - can't have it all ways.
Overall from comments on this topic I think I'd much rather trust Rutnin and fork out 50 odd k baht, than put my faith in some UK private outfit like Vision Express which would probably cost much the same.
A sprout is for life - not just for Christmas.
