I am considdering to change my CBR 250 to the new a Kawasaki 650 when it arrives in may/june (according to the dealer).
The only thing that worries me is how I am going to get it serviced.
What do you kawasaki owners do? do you go to the dealer (in BKK) or is there a local shop who can do the work?

I know someone who owns one and he has to make the ride to BKK for dealer service. Lots of fun in BKK traffic and figuring out how to get to and from where your needing to go. My friend hires a taxi on outside of BKK to lead him into and out of the dealer there.

If one hasn't spent much time in Bangkok then that maybe necessary.

I remember a few years ago Suzuki & Honda were sending technicians from Bangkok to Hua & Pranburi occasionally to do small repairs on bikes that the locals weren't sure how to do. I wonder if Kawasaki do something similar?

You could ask the dealer before you bought it, and could make it a condition of purchase that you'll only buy it if they could arrange for the servicing to be done in Hua Hin. After all, we arent talking about a 50,000 baht Honda Wave here.

I have a Kawasaki but decided, after doing some investigating in Hua Hin, to drive to Rama IX in Bangkok (Kawasaki dealer) for any regular servicing. Even changing a tyre correctly seems a bit of a challenge for the shops in Hua Hin.

@Michel - When I look at the Kawasaki website, it only lists two dealers in BKK. One in Bukkhalo,Thon Buri and one in Saphan Sung. Is it the one in Thon Buri you are using or is the another on Rama IX ?

Just to update if someone else is going to need the same information...
I went to the dealer in Thon Buri last week and did all the paperwork for the new ninja.
The Dealer is not that har to find, but what I did (and probably also will do the next couple of times) was to follow the 35 highway until I got to the first Big C in BKK. From there I asked a motorcycle cab to lead me to the dealer (about 10 minutes).
Regarding service, it is only done in BKK. So it will be a 170 x 2 km ride each time (from Cha-Am)... but that is apparantly the only way of doing it.
Regarding delivery, it seems to be a very popuar bike. There are currently more than 70 people on the waiting list. So my bike will not be delivered until may / june. Also they do not provide red number plates.
What they say is that as long as the bike is new, you can drive around without numberplates as long as you bring the green book, insurance papers and purchase contract with you. Otherwise you need to wait another month or so until the numberplates arrive.

The bike itself is THB 265.000. But then you have to pay insurance, registration etc. so all in all it's THB 280.000. So compared to almost all other new bikes it is a bargain.
I am not sure - and I did not ask - if the dealer is asemling the bikes. But I could see several 650's being made ready for delivery in the back of the shop (with protective film / without mirrors etc.).

Normally I find the kawasaki green a little to flouresent to my taste, but this model is a bit darker and metallic like green.

Yes,the Ninja 650 is not only assembled, but fully manufactured in Thailand (Kawasaki factory in Eastern Seaboard, Rayong), and has been for a few years now.

In addition, in the same 650 range are the ER-6N and the Versys

Only asking as I'm currently eying the ER6n ...

Noticed there is also a dealership in Surat which is closer to me ...

I can only say that it is the best bike I ever had - and I have had quite a few.
The only thing I missed was a gear indicator, but I had one installed (GIPRO from http://www.healtech-electronics.com/) it took two minutes and it is working just perfect.
I have met a number of fellow ninja riders as well, and everybody seems very satisfied with their bikes.

So the best advice from me is go for it.
