HH Immigration Dept moving location

Post by PET »

Whilst at Immigration Dept today I heard that they will be moving to the current main police station ( opp Post Office ) sometime next month. I believe the Main police station is also being relocated.

I am sure others will find out the dates etc but I believe the reason for the move is a sale of the whole block ( inc restaurant) where they are at present.

I heard they were trying to centralise everything in one area, the new building next to the Police Station and the Police Station would all be used for Government Facilities

I was at Immigration today as well and a move to hopefully bigger premises will be good. Hope they keep the same staff as they are always helpful.

Got confirmation that the restaurant '3 Girls' close to Immigration is sold and closing.

I think we talked on here when immigration moved the last time how all the traffic would be a boon to that restaurant. I guess it didn't happen. Pete

I've only been to Immigration 5 times, but despite signs to the contrary, I've never found the restaurant open.

I guess the new location will suit most of us in-towners and the vast majority of tourists needing extensions. I guess the tourist numbers exceed the ex-pat numbers. Not that will influence their thinking. Does seem to make sense that it is housed close to other government departments including the police.

Are the police moving to their new HQ up soi 88?

One of the Farang owners passed away about 6 months ago. But I do not think that it never "took off". It has been open for around 5 years, so I would guess it was at least paying it`s way.

Well if I remember rightly from riding past there, I'm pretty sure the building has something like "HUA HIN TOURIST CENTRE" signed above the entrance.

Slightly off-topic but... I drove past the Three Girls restaurant tonight and the car park was completely full.
Maybe it only opens at night?

BB, there's free parking available at the Colonnade Mall, or at least that's what a sign outside says. I've not tried parking there yet, so I can't say how much space is available. Alternatively, you can park your car in the Tessabaan car park  . Not sure if you're welcome to do so, but I've parked there many times and I've never been questioned. :thumb: Not sure if you can do it at night though, but during the day, they just assume you're visiting the Tessabaan offices. :thumb:
