Although not a resident in Hua Hin at this moment in time, but soon will be.
After spending October in Hua Hin i must agree entirely with your comments, all of the above happened to us while we were there.

Welcome and nice to have you on-board.

How many years have you been here? Lived here I mean?
Is it too much for you to understand that we love this place too?
Do you believe for a moment that we don't like the thai people?

Is everything perfect in HH?
Are you perfect?
Is Europe perfect?
No is the answer to all of this stupid questions.
Everybody, including you Mr stockcar, has the right to express what you want.
That's my rigth as well as your right.
Calling all of us a bunch of moaning sorry bunch of people is just too good to be true.
Even in your very first post!!!
You have balls man, I admit that!
You and mr Toxin should join forces.
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

As for your comment "the best place on earth", I'd totally agree with you.

That is prbably me. I always park right in the centre of a plot marked out for cars and trucks in my mini campaign to rid the town of trucks driven by people who can not drive a buffalo

Rubbish,

If you spent a little bit more time walking you will live longer and may get your figure back.

Dear Mr Stockcar Great first post you waited so long to do it and had nothing to say. Moaners yes some would say that, I thought it was a light hearted discusion about arrogant drivers. Double parking now seems to be the latest craze even on side soi's. My favourate at the moment is cars parked on a one way street all facing the wrong direction the boys in brown drive past and ignore it, mind you they are going the wrong way as well.

Nice new painted parking area's are spring up every where the one's outside the Chinese super market are great, if you want to turn left now, you have to overtake the whole Q or join the end of it somewhere near the fishing pier.

And don't get me started on the railway crossing couldn't some bright spark come up with an idea to make it straight!!!!!

Fantastic post Mr. Stockcar with just one minor flaw. The flaw being that you wasted your time posting it in the first place.

I agree totally with what Norseman said and I think most people with an IQ larger than their boot size would aswell.

To add my bit. We are not all here by choice, some us us are here through circumstance.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with anybody trying to make good town better especially when peoples lives are at risk. I recently witnessed a very near accident involving two children because some ar****le was unnecessarily double parked in Petchkasem near the grand. All because his overweight lazy wife did not want to walk the extra twenty metres to purchase her daily supply of cookies and other junk food.

Show me a country that is perfect and I will show you another planet.

BTW Thais that live in England and the US are just as eagre to complin about local issues as the locals. Why should it be different here.

All the criticisms I have read so far on this thread have been justified.

Agree with most of the responses above.

I think I have a right to complain when everytime I am driving whether in the car or on the bike I am certain to be invlolved in some very close near miss that could prove fatal. This is solely because driving standards in this country are abysmal coupled with the parking problems outlined in this thread.

Mr stockcar you are indeeed a pithy wit. Having an opinion should not always be construde as moaning.
I only want a safer enviroment for me and others alike in which to enjoy this beautiful town and the glorious weather.

Isn't that the height of hypocrisy, to do nothing but moan about the people who moan a little bit?

At my checkup yesterday for the shoulder I dislocated because a dog was in the road, the orthopedist recommended that I swim. Yeah, after I recover from the :cuss: dog that bit me on Friday, I'll swim. So, I asked the doctor if riding a sportbike was good exercise. He frowned a lot and said, "Too dangerous!" This is a guy who makes half his living off of motosai accidents, but he's enough of a physician to want to keep his patients alive and without further injuries.

During high season, traffic in downtown Hua Hin takes on Bangkokian proportions of insanity.

I have every right to complain

Post by Chas »

I am reminded here of my recent complaints about our dismal "chomping mall" getting knocked down by somebody who has absulutely no problems in life and who just lives in a perfect world and who will not tolerate complaints about anything from others. I can't deal with such Polyannas because the criticism is tinged with hypocrisy. Either "stockcar" has never even been here, or still has stars in his eyes about the beach and the beer and the babes.

Everything you guys have written about these idiots ( yes, always from Bangkok)in the big SUV's double parking is true, dangerous to life in the extreme and very annoying. Maybe "stockcar" doesnt understand what we mean by double parking. Here in Hua Hin it means stopping IN THE TRAVELLED LANE so that fast moving traffic on the two lane busy highway is reduced to one lane. I was stuck behind one such idiot just last night. He looked at me as if to ask, "What's your problem anyway? ( And we all know how well Thai drivers "merge")

So don't start in about "if you dont like it leave" or even worse that crap about "you are guest in this country, etc etc.. . .which I most certainly am NOT. I work and pay taxes here. (If you think I am a guest here, then treat me like one and feed, me, house me and entertain me.)

Hua Hin is MY town as much as anyplace I have ever lived. I enjoy living here for the most part ( have done for more than three years now and intend to make it many more) love the Thai people. . .most of those I meet anyway, and love Thailand. And the stuff I DONT like I WILL complain about openly, loudly and freely . . .and with complete confidence in my right to do so to anyone who will listen.

Buk, I know what you mean about taking your life in your hands every time you go out. I have steeled myself to expect at least three near misses every time I drive into town. Got bumped while stopped at a stoplight the other day. Minor damage to the car. The other guy was tailgating, driving way too fast and driving like an idiot for miles before it happened. He deserved it. Just lucky noone was injured. (Happy to report that the police were wonderful. Very professional. We ended up with three of them ( armed) plus two insurance adjusters for a minor fender-bender!!

parking

By the way, I need to thank you guys for the tip about parking at the temple! Never have done, except for some celebration there where the attendant gave us a hassle. I usually end up way down by the beach . . or in the Hilton garage when things are busy.
