In a shared dish? It's fine if you're eating the dish on your own.Pleng wrote:So have I. Pretty much everybody in fact. If you take to the roads......... On 4 or 2 wheels.......
Be aware that most Thai's....... And a lot of Falang's....... Who also use the road.....
Cannot..... Look left or right..... Cannot use mirrors...... If they do manage to use indicators..... In the majority of cases it will mean absolutely nothing...... Have no concern or thought for other road users.....
Always expect the unexpected.....

98) Palm trees drop coconuts
Whilst lazing on white sand in the shade of a palm tree may seem idyllic, have some thought for what is directly above you.
Well managed resorts have their palms periodically stripped of nuts, but elsewhere be careful. Whilst casualties are infrequent, they are sometimes tragic.

99) There is an occasional idiosyncrasy in the way Thais tell the time, that can cause confusion.
7 a.m. and 8 a.m. may be referred to as 1 and 2 in the morning.
7 p.m. and 8 p.m. may be referred to as 1 and 2 in the evening.
In theory, the syntax could extend to 9, 10 & 11 being called 3, 4 and 5, but I am told that in practice this doesn't often happen.
If you need to book a taxi or meet someone at 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. take care to make sure they don't think you mean 7 a.m. or 8 a.m.

Although widely used in Europe, the 24-hour system is probably arithmetically beyond many Brits!
This is the way

100) If you like the beach, try a day out at Khao Takiab
Take the baht bus south until it reaches its final destination, and pay the driver 10 baht. To your left is monkey mountain - note previous advice IRO monkeys.. - and to your right is a road that leads towards the beach, about a ten minute stroll.
The sea itself is safer and probably cleaner than at HH, and there is more sand and fewer people competing for it. Loungers and refreshments are available and are reasonably priced.

101) Thailand's political difficulties have caused no problems in Hua Hin.
Overall tourist numbers seemed slightly down this year, with noticeably fewer families; but otherwise it's been business as usual.
