Increase in ATM withdrawal fee?

I had to take out some money last evening from an ATM and the closest one was a Krungsri ATM. And I had to pay a ฿180 withdrawal fee. Is this new, and a sign the fees are going up, or has Krungsri had that high fee for a long time?

I seem to remember that Krungsri was charging 180 last year along with another couple of banks so I don't think it follows that all banks are charging this amount. I withdrew yesterday at the Bangkok Bank and was charged 150.

Steve, We're talking about charges when drawing from foreign bank accounts. Not local accounts which have been the same for years.

It does beg the question why though, if the ATM fees are so hated, more people don't try to simply open a local account. Most of us who have have not found it hard.
