Does any one know of a good teacher in Hua Hin who could teach me to read Thai.
I speak Thai to an intermediate level, and can read basic dishes on a menu and road signs if I know what I am looking for.
I have tried teaching myself and actually learnt the alphabet from childrens books - but my self dicipline is appalling and I need some structured lessons to get me going. Languages have never been my strong point and broken Thai is my first 2nd language.
Lessons would need to be private as due to my work rotation I am never in Hua Hin continuously for more than 4 weeks.
Cheers

I'll see if I can find any of my old books from which I learnt to read and write. Remind me about this when you're next here.

I know a good teacher in hua hin she's very good and bright can contact her via me, I will forward your details she normally teaches a couple of hours per day, 2 or 3 times per week (it's enough) her rates are fair 200-500 baht per hour, u can pay less but she's a graduate well educated and fun. If u want to pay less u will get a bar girl (try soi binterbaht, any bar)

Hello Fatty and others,
Just back from a 4 week stay in soi 19. (äšѧ¡ÇÅ) Took the private lessons at home from the teacher you recommended. I had great result and it was fun to do. after only 11 hours of lessons (had in total about 19 hours) i was suprised to be able to read some Thai in the streets, on roadsigns, restaurants, etc. Never thought i could do this. Now i have some bassic knowledge to continue at home on my one. On my next stay i will ask her if she want to teach me more.
I do recommend this teacher too.
