British girl raped in Kanchanaburi
Have just read that a British girl was raped in Kanchanaburi in the early hours of Tuesday morning, approx 01.30.
This is particularly shocking to me because I walked along that street at about 01.00 as I was staying in a guest house on the very road that it seems she was abducted from. The posts on TV are the usual disgusting, anti-Thai, 'asking for it', kind of rubbish that just confirm what many think about the quality of the expat community here.
There was a group of young Brits outside one of the bars, in fancy dress and clearly having had a few drinks, I seem to remember a few Thais in amongst them but they could have been bar staff. It seems she wanted to go to the shop and it was then that she was abducted and raped. Now the two shops on that road are no more than 300m from the bar they were in, the road is very well lit, even at that time not deserted, and many guest house security guards sat snoozing, so she wasn't being particularly reckless to assume she would be Ok.
There were two motorbikes buzzing around with young Thai men on them for the last hour or so that I was in a bar down the street, all the girls in the bar knew them, I hope these girls are questioned and give up the names of these guys so they can be DNA tested as presumably samples have been taken when the girl reported it.
Sincerely hope her friends can help the girl get over this terrible incident and that the police get cracking and lock the scum that did it up very quickly.

Now being reported that two Thai men are in custody. Be nice to learn that Thai workers on that street gave police the information.
Re: British girl raped in Kanchanaburi
make sure they are the guilty party and take them out back and pop two caps in their heads. next.
I really like this forum because there are no personal attacks. All the members contribute in a positive way to my posts.

A common news story....shame that no-one in this part of the world [and other parts too] cares about the welfare of women in general.

From above article: "He gave no other details of the case, saying that it was sensitive and could affect tourism. A more senior officer would decide what information to release."

We all know the love of brits to be drunk. This girl wasn't alone. She was with a group and what about the responsability of those brits to leave her alone in such a pitiful state?

Were you there, do you have inside knowledge or are you trying to lay the blame on the girl and her friends as a reason for the rape.europtimiste wrote:We all know the love of brits to be drunk. Rape is unacceptable full stop whatever the circumstances. There are rapists and there are victims, she was a victim; don't try to lay the blame at anybody but the filth who perpetrate these disgusting crimes.
You should be bashing the rapists not an innocent woman and her friends. Your comment about Brits being drunk was also uncalled for and in poor taste in relation to the situation.

Yes, dalmatiandave, yes I lay the blame on her friends, who didn't prevent her leaving alone in a pitiful state. I hope that they will feel this guilty behaviour all their life. That's like allowing a drunk driver driving his car and in case of an accident putting the blame on a third. I don't exculpate the rapists, that's another point, they will be sentenced in court.

A fact in your own mind but far from the truth or a proven fact which simply makes your comment worthlesseuroptimiste wrote:If you are a brit, you might dislike my remark, but facts are facts.......
Again you appear to be in possession of all of the facts. Just maybe her friends were also in a "pitiful state". I'm pretty sure that they are feeling awful but that does not make them guilty of any crime, unlike those who commited the rape.europtimiste wrote:yes I lay the blame on her friends, who didn't prevent her leaving alone in a pitiful state.......

I would wait until the facts come out before making comments like this. I'm a Brit and I was on that street on the night it happened, I walked past the group at about 01.00am, and although they were lively it wasn't apparent that any of them were that drunk.europtimiste wrote:We all know the love of brits to be drunk. That road is very well lit and still busy even at 01.30, I can't believe that all her friends had completely gone and it is possible these guys offered her a lift to catch up with them if they were walking back to their resort. I don't see why you see the need to make provocative comments about her friends and a nation of 60 million people on such flimsy evidence.

cookmanchef: Why do some of you see a provocative comment ? If those young people were not that drunk as you witnessed, they shouldn't let her go alone. Did they see anything ? The motobike drivers with them she left the area ?
