Sailing in Hua Hin

Does anyone know of the possibilities of sailing in Hua Hin?

Either through hiring a boat or joining a sailing clup

Any idea regarding prices?

Preferrably a small boat (1-5 people) just for fooling around a bit.

Prices of motorboats for fishing would also be appreciated

I've just come back from walking the beach and I noticed two dingys- maybe could accommodate 3/4 people - sailing up and down. Not sure exactly where they were coming from, but it looked like a km or so south of Chiva Som.
No idea of prices etc.
I went out a couple of times in a proper sized fishing boat with a captain and deck hand. The price we got a couple of years ago was 500 Baht each - as long as 6 went. Tackle, bait and water supplied. Depending on the tide we were out for approx 6 hours.

I remember seeing one or two small sailing boats which were for rent at Ko Talu. Not really Hua Hin but within a day trip.

A thai friend in bangok was telling me that sailing was a big thing in Hua Hin (presumably because the king in some way was interested in it) But it is quite possible he did not know what he was talking about.

I did a long weekend trip in the islands off Koh chang bordering cambodia. A lot of really nice basically uninhabited islands and a farang skipper. An ok weekend if you are a few friends that can have fun wihout other peoples input.. They have two boats sleeping 6 people each.

The actual sailing is not so impressive though i thought, mostly motoring around.

Was hoping either to do something like that or getting a small boat for bumming around or doing some evening fishing/drinking excersise

Having seen the replies above, my info was definitely about "fooling around". Not "big" yachts. Don't want to mislead you.

I must say i'm surprised not to see such craft as Hobie cats in Hua Hin as these are beach cats and don't need bearthing. They can be just run onto the beach.

I’ve seen Hobie cats down near Dolphin Bay resort ( approx. 50km south ) I don’t know if they belong to a resort or are privately owned.

the one that has been for rent on HH beaches past five years.

There at least were more than 10 full-blood 30 ft monohull racers for rent some years back at the
Marina near Pak Nam Pran. But, of course, when you agreed over the phone the daily rental fee,
they more than doubled it once we showed up at the marina. That's why none of us ever sailed them.
By the looks they appeared really racy craft. Deep fin keel with heavy bulb and long mast - short boom
gave out an aura of good performance. Pity the Thai greed messed up the rentals. TIT!

I have seen that catamaran for years as well as I always at Chan Chay which is behind Verandha but have never seen it in the water or somebody touting it.Perhaps it belongs to the lady who owns the Verandha
