I was on the beach at the Sofitel stage on both Friday and Saturday. The music this year was the best yet. I was particularly knocked out by Bill Bruford (Friday) and Ibrahim Electric (Saturday). I must admit that on Saturday, even though I arrived just after the first act, it was not possible to get anywhere near the stage. Obviously the event is getting more and more popular - a cool place to be seen. But one of the main organisational blunders must have been putting the event on during high tide.
Regarding the 'alcohol-free period' from 2 pm - 5 pm, if you were on the beach you were luckier than me. I decided to take a break from the beer and went to Tesco to buy a decent bottle of 'vin rouge'. Not only would they not sell before 5 pm but the cash register at the booze-counter was out of synch by about ten minutes and would not register any alcohol sale until 5 .10 pm.
But thanks to all the artists who were really cooking on stage. I'll be back next year. Actually I'll be back next week, but that's another story!
GREAT NIGHT ON THE BEACH
There were far less people on Sunday night so walking around was a bit easier. Lets hope next year the organizers think about it a bit more and bring back the beer parks, the total lack of seating was a bit dissapointing but as said above the quality of the music made up for it.
