Already many years I don't go back to Europe and don't fly 10-12 hours. In the past I experienced to have an overweight obese neighbor, very unpleasant specially on economy class. On business it's OK. I always wished extra charges for obese passengers.Thistle wrote: ↑Tue Apr 03, 2018 4:04 pm Excellent,Europtimiste kindly post on the forum next time you on a 10-12 hour flight back to wherever, and you sitting in 47B,and you are very happy.Middle seat, nobody beside you, then 2 large guys that Thai airways seem fit not to fly in business class because of their new seat belt policy sit either side of YOU.If you fly first/business class then you automatically get an additional luggage allowance,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

You all know it's not just Thailand, right?
Re: Thai Airways - Seating Restrictions for Obese
So, Thai Airways has this completely bassackward - fat people should be REQUIRED to fly 1st or business clas, not prohibetid from it. Put those safer seat belts in cattle class.....sitting in 47B,and you are very happy.Middle seat, nobody beside you, then 2 large guys that Thai airways seem fit not to fly in business class,,,

When last were you in Thailand, or if you are here, then when last did you leave your home and have a look around?
Back in the 1990s, or even in the early 2000s, I would have agreed with you 100%, but not so much anymore. Obesity in Thailand is occurring at an alarming pace.
Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact

Although obesity is on the increase in Thailand, I’m certain that if you compared an average group of Thai nationals with an average group of UK nationals, the UK group would be more obese.Takiap wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 6:59 amoakdale160 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 02, 2018 3:39 am How many massively obese Thai people do you see compared to Farang. Re: Thai Airways - Seating Restrictions for Obese
Personal observations are not objective. I for one also believe that I see far more 'morbidly obese' Thai women walking around than Farang women (of course I can't really always say which country they are from, maybe the ultra-big ones truly are all from the UK, lol). Thai men in general don't seem to me so fat, those that are overweight usually are maybe just obese (chubby) rather than huge.
But this study on body shapes from 2012 does seem to support oakdale's and Dannie Boy's belief, although the sizing surveys were conducted in the United Kingdom in 2001–2002, and in Thailand in 2008. A lot can change in 18 years I guess. It also mentions the difficulty of adjusting for BMI due to the difference in age/height of the people surveyed:
