Looks like electricity bills have been discounted for February and March as ours is back to pre-Covid normal levels again.

Prepare for them to surge again in April and May when it gets toasty.

We just got our March bill and it was about 400 Baht more than last month, although there was a figure of -121 for something - the increase is down to increased use of ac?

None of it makes any sense to me - ours was lower yet we've used more a/c this month. When we make a conscious effort to cut down on power usage, the bill is through the roof. If given up even trying to comprehend it.

Not for me. Last month my bill was around 900 baht compared to my long term, 6 year average for that month of about 4500 baht. The solar panel investment 12 months ago is paying nice dividends.

That reduction is because you have solar, it isn't the same as what the state decides to charge every month.

I've been investigating solar but the ROI on what we've been quoted was 14 years.

Phew!!! You guys have been scaring me with talk of 50%. My bill has just arrived, and it was quite a relief to be only 20% more.

Same for us, but having used the aircon a lot more this month and not been away like last month, it was to be expected

ANNOUNCEMENT - Reduction of utility bills

To help those sheltering at home with the air on, the government yesterday approved lowering residential utility bills for two months amidst Thailand’s latest and most severe COVID-19 outbreak.

The two-month reduction in water and electricity bills will be valid for May and June bills to provide relief and encourage people to remain at home.

Electricity:

- Households using <90 units: no payment

- Households using 90-150 units: only pay forthe units that are more than 90, first 90 is free

- Households using 150-999 units: same rates apply as last month April 2021. Any unit above that will be discounted 50%.

Water:

- All households: 10% discount
