Interesting. I received no such letter, but for at least a decade I have been doing periodic transfers from a US HSBC account to Bangkok Bank Thailand via their branch in New York. The last one I did was in June:

Code: Select all

13 Jun 2019 09:10 International Transfer nnn,nnn.nn nnn,nnn.nn. User
So, is this going to keep working, or not?

Have I not gotten a letter because HSBC knows how to do an international transfer?

It’s working fine for me, I’ve made 2 ETF transfers recently, from my financial services company, Fidelity, through the New York Bangkok Bank Branch to my Bangkok Bank account here in Hua Hin. Most recent was 2 weeks ago, then 4 weeks before that. I think ETF transfers transmit the required data elements Bangkok Bank outlined in their letter, I anticipate it will keep working. My Fidelity account has another transfer method configured for the same Bangkok Bank account, called “Wire Transfer”, which I have not tested recently. I configured and used the “Wire Transfer” method years ago when I needed to transfer a large sum, not sure if this method still works or not but ETF transfers definitely still work.
