Drinking water stations

Post by Hipop »

Can anyone tell me the closest drinking water refill station to Soi 112?

Do those devices now have a better reputation than they did in the past? I can remember horror stories about filters not cleaned or changed for months and all sorts of things where you wouldn't want to drink the water. I think at the time they were all independently owned and operated with little to no regulation or supervision.

That’s quite a way from Soi 112 though?

Soi1 off of Soi112, 7/11 on the corner.

First 7/11 (the only one?) on the left hand side when coming from Petchkasem on Soi 112. I think "Soi 1" is actually named "Soi Moo Baan Hua Na". Anyway, very close to Manee Bar as HHtel wrote and even closer to Corner 112. If you find 7/11, you can't miss it. :D

I really have no idea but I personally don't trust them. More informed input are appreciated.

You really need to know who is in charge of the maintenance. My wife will only go to the one on the road from 102 to 94 because she knows the guy in the house that maintains it. He does tend to it every day, checking the filters etc.

I agree that many of them don't pass the test for 'safe' water.

Incidentally, it is Soi 1 on 112 followed by 3, 5 etc.

Well done. However, I think the machine in the picture has been relocated directly next to Manee Bar unless there are two! Just off to 7/11 so I'll check.

Is that the one at the (small) gas station?

Yes, that's the one. Also has coin operated petrol.

The one shown in 112 has been moved to Manee Bar (on the left as you look at the bar). Maybe even owned by the bar but I'll have to ask. There is a dirty looking free supply on the corner of Soi 1 which is supposed to be filtered. The outlet is a hose pipe and you can see locals filling multiple large containers through the day. Probably 'maintained' by the Municipality which doesn't say a lot. Personally, I wouldn't give my dog the water from there. Better to pay the few baht and hopefully get good water.

BTW, this photo must have been shot before 10 am since I don't see any beer drinking Farangs in Manee Bar. :P
