The barista at a coffee shop I frequent insists that the correct name for the fishing village just south of the Regent Hotel is บางควาย (Bang Kwai). But, if you enter บางควาย into Google Maps it always takes you to บางไทรย้อย (Bang Sai Yoi).
To add to the confusion, the Tesco Express in that area is referred to as: เทสโก้ โลตัส ชุมชนบางควาย เพชรบุรี (Tesco Lotus Bang Kwai Community Phetchaburi).
Even more confusing there's a Thai seafood restaurant in North Cha Am (on hospital road, I think) called ร้านเจ้แดงบางควาย (Ran Jae Daeng Bang Kwai). Maybe it used to be in Bang Kwai.
Anyone know how the battle of the names originated?
(Don't take this too seriously.)
