Vine-covered taxis sit in a taxi lot owned by a Boworn Taxi Cooperative Tuesday. Owner Thapakorn Asawalertkul said that 2,000 taxis have been left in his lot for almost two years since the COVID-19 pandemic began, choking the income of taxi drivers.
.
In a related development, around 100 taxis have been parked in front of the Labor Ministry since Saturday. They call for the government to give them 5,000 baht relief per driver.

How big a mess will this government make before it capitulates or arrests everyone for "criticizing" it and causing "trouble?"

It's working on your suggestion. The arrests, that is.

Yes, of course. Sorry. They're working on it anyway.

That's a relief, Id hate to think that they neglected that aspect of governing.

Not really land transport, in fact quite the opposite, but thought this thread might be ok. For my sins, I’m traveling to the Uk and have just passed though the airport and was totally shocked that virtually all the stores inside the duty free area are closed. Not surprisingly, I’ve never seen the airport so quiet - probably not even a quarter of what I was expecting.

IDLED TAXIS GO GREEN WITH MINI-GARDENS ON CAR ROOFS
Taxi fleets in Thailand are giving new meaning to the term “rooftop garden,” as they utilize the roofs of cabs idled by the coronavirus crisis to serve as small vegetable plots.

Workers from two taxi cooperatives assembled the miniature gardens this week using black plastic garbage bags stretched across bamboo frames. On top, they added soil in which a variety of crops, including tomatoes, cucumbers and string beans, were planted.

The result looks more like an eye-grabbing art installation than a car park, and that’s partly the point: to draw attention to the plight of taxi drivers and operators who have been badly hit by coronavirus lockdown measures.

The Ratchapruk and Bovorn Taxi cooperatives now have just 500 cars left plying Bangkok’s streets, with 2,500 sitting idle at a number of city sites, according to 54-year-old executive Thapakorn Assawalertkul.

When asked about damage to the vehicles, most have said that they're already beyond repair so any more damage is irrelevant.

As long as the plastic bags don't leak, there won't be any damage.

Does anyone know of any public transport options from Prachuab or Hua Hin to Bangkok, that are still operating? I need to go soon and for various reasons can’t drive up. Can’t find any train timetables online and the SRT site for ordering tickets is empty too

I've no idea of timetable, but it certainly looks as though things are getting back to normal judging by the TAT update https://www.tatnews.org/2021/09/updates ... mber-2021/
