SCB suspends online debit card service after hackers expose vulnerabilities

Post by buksida »

Siam Commercial Bank said they would temporarily be suspending online transactions for debit card holders after finding vulnerabilities, local media reported.

SCB, one of Thailand’s largest banks, said on Saturday that their system was hacked and vulnerabilities were found and that they would be temporarily suspending any online transactions with debit cards potentially affecting millions of customers nationwide.

Normal services have not yet fully resumed.

Banking executives speaking anonymously to Thai Enquirer on Sunday said that the situation must be “extremely serious” to warrant a blanket suspension that would affect millions.

“Usually we deal with this sort of thing on a case by case basis so the vulnerability must be serious,” he said by phone.

Well it was posted on the bank's official twitter and fb pages so either they have been hacked too - or SCB is faking its own news.
