Pet hates

Post by dtaai-maai »

I find the older I get, the more pet hates I have...

Near the top of the list at the moment is people who start every sentence with the word "So..." :banghead: :cuss:

So why's that DM? :duck:

In all seriousness, mine (well minor) are geared to Email and SMS "language" - just getting old I guess!

No, it's not that, it's: "What do you do for a living?" "So, I'm a..."
"Where do you live?" "So, I live..."
"What do you do in your free time?" "So, I love to (destroy the feckin' English language)..." grrr

Got it...... :D

One for me (I don't know why really) is the "I rocked up" phrase - would tie in with you when it's "So, I rocked up"...... For Christ sake!! :banghead:

So... :duck: :duck: Voice affectation pisses me off. Here is a great example. (Loudermilk is a great series)

People talking loudly on mobile phones. :cuss:

Especially, if it's on public transport. Unless it's work or an emergency, can you not wait until you get home!? Or somewhere private? I don't wish to be forced to listen to your conversation, thank you.

Maaaan does it grind on me. I can probably count on one hand how many times I've answered my phone in public this year. They get a message.

I'm definitely gonna be a proper grumpy old man when I'm older. Already halfway there. 😂

I hate a southern drawl, an Australian nasal whine style of speaking, and sometimes certain words the English speak where they over emphasize, i.e. "It's over heeeeeeeeahr". :banghead:

Expats talking Tinglish to anyone! If a Thai can understand "I go market now" they can also understand "I'm going to the market now"... - and they might learn how to speak English properly! :cuss: :banghead:

Like. You know. Clapped back. High-pitched, Thai, female, nasally, whinny voices: "swadeekaaaaaaa."

That's just the short list.

That will happen when we learn to speak Thai properly.
