Daikin error code E1 means a circuit board problem in the outside unit. A/C dude comes to check and a f'kin gecko has got in there. Now we need to wait for a Daikin technician to come and have a look - no idea if lizards are covered under the warranty but damn well should be as it is a design flaw.

I mean who designs these things that are supposed to operate in the tropics where there are a lot of beasties that can get into them and fry them? :banghead:

As usual, thanks for the helpful insight.

It is not unusual, the little buggers get into all sorts of small places. The last one that I had blew up a 25,000 Baht gate opener.
Equipment built to a price, not an ingress standard. Cooling of all the components requires an open airflow, so difficult to seal up.

We had snakes in one of ours, on the second floor to boot! Came off of a tree limb close to the house and used the sharp edges in the outside unit to snag and shed their skin with. When we finally replaced it there were 5-6 complete skins in there.

On the strength of the review given to the Winter Wind air con company on this forum, I got them in today to service my air con units. I totally agree with the previous review. These guys were professional, competent and thorough. All units were stripped down to the chassis, cleaned and rebuilt. Fantastic job. The company I previously used were useless in comparison.

Winter Wind Co. is owned by Mrs. GNs best pal... didn't realise but just confirmed with her just now.
The owner is not an English speaker but his wife is. If anyone has difficulty getting hold of them or not happy with the service you can P.M. me and I will feedback. Don't ask me for a discount as we don't even get that.

Had the Winter Wind team in yesterday to clean our four units. Thoroughly recommend them to anyone. Turned up on time and all units dismantled and cleaned as per earlier comments. Before leaving they checked gas levels and that all units were working well.
More expensive than the splash and dash outfits but in my opinion well worth it. Will definitely use them again next time.

The perennial question is asked again! Any recommendations based on recent history? The guys we have used seemed to have disappeared off the face of Planet Thailand.

Thanks.

I will merge this with the existing thread, but you will see from recent posts in that thread that Winter Wind has some very good reports.
