Oh dear - I hadn't realised quite how obnoxiously arrogant Mbappé was until I just saw an interview on BBC..... Now I truly do hope Messi tw@ts him - well, not physically, but you know what I mean..

Good God.....

Well I went for 2-0 Argentina. The way France are playing this could be a hammering!

Don't see that often, double substitution in the first half! In a world cup final no less.

Had to do something though, France are embarrassing themselves here.

Hoping for an early france goal to make this a more entertaining game. What a shocker from the French!

Been an alright final all things considered.

So glad I'm a neutral(ish) watching these penalties!

Hell, that poison dwarf that is Macron wasn't smiling so much at the end.... :D

Deserved win for Argentina - and glad Messi finally got to win it. Not much else he can get is there?

An iconic moment. The World Cup trophy being lifted by arguably the greatest player to have ever kicked a ball. A photo that will be remembered for eternity ...

All ruined because Messi was forced to wear some little black lacy see-through number by the hosts.

I'm not remotely interested in the silly Arab cloak nonsense (the tournament should never have been played there in the first place), but as far as the football is concerned, despite the fact that Argentina were much the better side for the first hour + (despite a pretty soft penalty), I wouldn't have been at all bothered if France had sneaked it. Their comeback from the 80th minute made this a truly memorable final.
I thought Mbappe was great in the 2nd half, added to which there were no Neymar-like antics and he plays with a smile on his face. I also thought Martinez' antics in the penalty shootout were disgraceful, particularly in contrast to Lloris.
This is the way

As the actual World Cup had ended 8 days earlier, I wasn't going to bother with last night's game. The movie I was watching finished at 4 minutes past 10, so I thought I'd put the game on for 10 minutes. Then I decided to leave it until half-time, then full-time because I was enjoying the game as a neutral. That rolled into extra-time and of course penalties - absolutely enjoyed the game.

I must admit, after the England game, and the first half, I was wondering what all of the Mbappe hype was about. Thankfully, he answered my curiosity and eventually equalled Sir Geoff's 1966 achievement. I thought a great game for a neutral, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I think overall, I was hoping Argentina would win it. The French have been gloating long enough, and needed somebody to shut them up. Mind you, in the unlikely event of England ever taking it home, there'd be no living with me, and I'd most certainly put French gloating into the shadows.

Good game!!!

As a non-football fan I've watched many of the games and acquired a liking to the sport. Thoroughly enjoyed the final. Will I now take an interest in football which I've avoided all my life? ........ I hope not!
