Thanks to HHT for posting

I have an unusually busy day today so I might just wait for some feedback from others as to whether this fix works or not

Finally in the comments section there's several refs to Revanced. Is that another apk file altogether or are they simply referring to this fix?

Just tried my Vanced and it works as normal.

But worth noting that I never upgrade it and am using an older version (16.29.39). Newer versions were often cranky so I've stuck with this one which works on multiple devices. Also worth noting that I don't login to it with any Google or Youtube account since it'll find out what you're doing and probably block you!

I have more problems with the real YouTube app than Vanced!

But that I log in via Google(no choice if i recall correctly) hence why mine stopped working

You can use Vanced without logging into it.

This appears to be the issue - Google knows that you're using an ad-free version of its YouTube app and depriving it of more money!

Try logging out of Vanced, clear all data and cache for the app, then see if it will play something. The app is fine since mine still works.

Remarkably, without doing anything, my Vanced is suddenly working fine this morning!!!

Well, it looks like Vanced is officially dead, neither version of the app works any longer after all the fixes and reinstalling so I've binned them.

But no fear because there is something called Revanced that reconfigures the YouTube APK to give you the Premium version which is essentially what Vanced was.

It is a little long-winded to get it working, but I've gone through these steps and it does work (on my device anyway).

First, you need to download and install Revanced Manager which you can get here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/revanced/ ... -download/

Then you need to download the latest official YouTube APK which is version 18.17.43: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-in ... 3-release/

It also wants something called Vanced MicroG: https://github.com/TeamVanced/VancedMicroG/releases

This is the instruction set on how to use Revanced Manager to build, install, and run a modified Premium YouTube app: Revanced setup instructions on Reddit

Again, Google will flap and try to block it but just proceed with the setup and installation, it does work.

Happy to report that Revanced is working well.

I noticed it could also modify the Spotify APK so gave that a go in the hope I'd get the Premium version. However, it doesn't eliminate the ads on Spotify.

I haven't got around to this yet as 4 times out of 5 my Vanced still works

I was helping a pal set up his new Android phone at the weekend and had the misfortune of using YouTube. The app in its current state is pretty much unusable with its incessant adverts for Shopee that now take over the physical screen, not just the video player, every few minutes.

Naturally, I ditched it and installed Revanced!

Looks like YouTube for TVs is about to get more intolerable:

I have smart tube on my TV.

Love it but very occasionally the videos being offered just don't play

In that scenario I would have to play it on my phone for a few seconds and so it would appear in the history of Smart tube and I could play it from there(I think so anyway, I might double check that next time)


Still haven't got around to fixing Vanced..... too lazy especially as it works half the time!

I understand that many in Thailand are living on a budget but when you consider how much entertainment is available on YouTube, is the 159bt a month they charge for Premium really that unreasonable?
I get it in Europe for 5.99 euro and am happy to pay that to keep life simple and it works in Thailand as well.
