New Year - Amazing Hua Hin bar raids/closures

Post by huahin4ever »

After telling that all restaurants can be open until 01, army and Police are going up and down Soi 94 telling all to close immediately. This is 21:30. Fuck!!! This country is going to hell. How can anyone plan anything when they act as Nazis

My other half and I drove down there a couple of nights ago and noticed a visible Police presence in some bars. Or they looked like bars by any other name.

Sounds like they're 'doing a Nicola Sturgeon' .

That's crazy. Many bars, restaurants, resorts and hotels were given licence to sell alcohol till 1 am. I've just come back from the beach (Takiap end) and there were restaurants open as usual.

Something doesn't add up! Pattaya and Cha-am were also allowed to stay open till 1 am.
Alcohol consumption will be allowed during the holidays at open-air venues from December 31, 2021, to January 1, 2022, while restaurants can serve alcohol until 1 AM on New Year’s Eve under the condition that they strictly uphold “COVID-Free Setting” standards.
Those in Thailand will be able to ring in 2022 with a drink in hand. Alcohol sales at restaurants and venues certified as “Covid Free Settings” will be allowed to serve alcoholic drinks until 1am on New Year’s. During its general meeting today, the CCSA decided to allow alcohol consumption during the holiday, but only at open air venues under the “Covid Free Setting” measures.
Bars and nightlife venues are technically still ordered to remain closed, but some have opened under the “Covid Free Setting” measures, requiring people to show proof of vaccination to enter.
Consumption of alcoholic drinks will be allowed in restaurants throughout the country during the New Year's Eve countdown, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration decided on Monday.

Spokesman Taweesilp Visanuyothin said the CCSA meeting on Monday, chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, passed a resolution to this effect.

Under the resolution, eateries in all 77 provinces - be they the 39 provinces in the control zones (orange), 30 in the high surveillance zones (yellow) or eight in the tourism pilot zones (blue) - will be allowed to serve alcoholic drinks to customers during the New Year countown on Dec 31, until 1am on Jan 1.
So why the 'Bah Humbug' in HH?

There were some good looking ones down by the beach in Cha Am, but overall a lot quieter than say 2 years ago - also noticeably less guns being let off!!

A friend running a bar on Soi94 said the 1am applied to SHA+ restaurants. There aren't very many SHA+ establishments on 94. They are SHA.

In Hua Hin we could hear fireworks from the moment it got dark. The Intercontinental's firework display was as good as ever (viewed from home), but were set off at 10pm. Compared with other years (excluding last year), the midnight fireworks were as poor as I've seen here.

Lucky we didn't go then as we would have gone for midnight and miss the nice one at 10pm

We watched the Intercontinental from home then went to the beach for midnight. Very disappointing.

In Hua Hin's favour, the fireworks here beat the pants off the New Year firework displays in New Zealand!!!!

So ..what was to be the busiest night of the year for nearly all the bars in HH saw them being closed as early as 8.30 ffs!
The great 'countdown' to the New Yr saw sooo many bar girls all huddled together down on the beach because their place of work was shuttered by 9.30!
The army were out to monitor things at BKP...My mate had driven up from the south and said it gave an image of General Kim being in charge of security..very daunting..Thailand or N.Korea he asked..
Reports of Thai clubs/nightspots in/around HH being rammed full till the early hours reminds us all that there's different rules for the BKK Hi-So's, & for farangs wishing to drink-in the new Yr...AND reminds us of the Thai club in HH that sparked an outbreak a coupla yrs ago.
Not a very happy new year for many I think.

I’m rather glad to be too old for celebrating the New Year - I was content with a single Chang watching TV at home - sad maybe, but that’s sufficient for me!!

I had a great time on 102 last night,

surely by now even people with the most severe learning difficulties will have learnt to avoid 80/94/binta after 9pm if they want a hassle free drink.

102/112/106/takiab all have places that are under the radar

I've just seen photos on social media of the BIB preparing to go on patrol last night, with their assault rifles.

Thanks a bar owner who let the gestapo leave and reopened with music, I had a wonderful NY celebration. If all bar owners did the same, HH would be live as before Covid.
