Just to add, that after the op Dr. Pairat suggested I buy a cheap pair of glasses available anywhere. He suggested the focus needed and I paid 60 baht in Daiso. Good value for 2 months or so.

Where is Dr. Pairat's clinic, or more correctly where is 236/31 Petchkasem Rd close to?

Yes, thank you. There are a couple of similar threads and the times are posted on another thread.

Do you have a number for Dr. Pairat's clinic or something similar in HH?

Need a proper eye test and they only have a shop with dollybirds selling frames down here!

Actually, he doesn't do appointments - it's just walk in, so not a lot of point phoning ahead.

Where is it? Any time/day better than others? Don't fancy waiting in a queue for half a day as seems to be the expected norm here.

Edit: just seen above its a little south of MV.

Depends what you call proper

The eye test I had there was woefully short of what you would get at say Boots Opticians in UK

It was more like an eye test in 1940 to see if you could be conscripted!

And just done by the receptionist in the hallway not the Doc with technology

"Can you read this line?" etc until you couldn't. End of test. No feedback to me. Zilch!

None of this " Green or Red circles, which appears clearer?'' or the machine that tries on different powered lenses and you look at a hot air balloon

Very disappointed. I'd check exactly what you're getting if I were you

Or go to Bkk hospital and see Dr Tanun. The old mince pies are worth the extra £10/15 or so!

Hmmm, I can get that sort of noddy test done here locally. What I need is an eye examination I guess.

What thecolonel describes is not your typical eye test by Dr Pairat. I've been to many 'proper' opticians in my time, and his equipment is second to none. He is the only person who has ever been able to test my son properly. I don't know what thecolonel asked for, but that was most definitely not a proper Dr Pairat test. It was the preliminary test that is given prior to seeing the doctor.

Maybe the preliminary test results were so good, there was no point continuing with a proper test.

I went to Dr. Arunee Eye Clinic. He is an ophthalmologist, and I am guessing that he moonlights from one of the hospitals. 032 522300, but a I doubt that he makes appointments. The clinic is opposite the Hua Hin Hospital in a set of shophouses. Easy parking alongside the building. 500 Baht for a proper check up.

Mon_Wed_ Friday: 17-00 to 19-30
Sat: 0900 to 1200

And the first thing will be the standard vision test, even though it is done by a nurse.
