Water Heater for Shower

Post by bigston »

i require a water heater for a new bathroom shower , everyday use.
dont need a storage unit as its shower only
Suggestions, Recommendations, User Experiences
any brands stand out, any to totally avoid
im guessing a 4500-5000 watt unit should be enough for down here
Thanks.

We bought a couple of Panasonic 6,000w units and aside from one fried relay which was easy to replace, they're still going strong ten years later. My neighbour opted for cheapo Chinese ones and has had to replace the lot in half that time.

Not the cheapest, but the best.

5,000 watts more than enough.

I've been using the Sharp units, 3,500w, and they have stood the test of time. Not expensive either, and I typically do all the installations myself

You should ensure that whatever you buy that it has the heater elements in a small tank. There are a couple of cheap ones that consist of a copper tube with the heating element inside. Any build up of deposits from the water will very quickly block up the flow, rendering them useless.

You should also consider an electrical safety device on a dedicated circuit for the heater. An RCD is the correct type as it does not require an earth connection to operate.
