They will need to consider themselves very lucky if they are deported without a lengthy stretch in the slammer! Idiots!

... But they were in the wrong lane ... something they clearly take very seriously in Phuket for it to result in a cop chase ... :duck:

According to this article, I wouldn’t rate their chances of getting away with just deportation very highly;

Theres mention of a video of the incident, which according to a poster on the BP, paints a different picture. With the gun seemingly going off in the policemans hands all alone, and then the claim, they basically disarmed him, removed the ammunition from the gun and then waited for the police to arrive. If true, that is certainly a different tale to what has been relayed so far.

The photo in the Bangkok Post does appear to show one of the blokes removing the magazine from a pistol!

We all know what the police are like, so it is difficult to understand just what is going on there. About all that we can be sure of is that the police will stick to their own story, no matter what the truth may be!

If the police just deport the Kiwis without a jail sentence, then you can pretty much be sure that what is being claimed in that video is correct.

Either way, its more fuel for the farang witch hunt. You'll have Batman and Robin (Anutin and Big Joke) all over the TV (where they spend way too much time), spouting off about the evil aliens and how they need to be controlled and curtailed. Expect more nationalism.

"Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat said such actions were unacceptable and that officials will increase inspection of tourists ..."
https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/202 ... et-police/

So the 99% of decent law-abiding tourists and foreigners are now going to be subject to more police scrutiny, shakedowns, and potential extortion. Luckily, this has all been limited to Phuket so far.

Something that isn't farangs behaving badly for a change ...

THAILAND WILL ANNOUNCE ITS FIRST EUROPEAN STRATEGIC RELATIONSHIP WITH THE UK
The UK will be the first country in Europe that Thailand will announce a strategic partnership with, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Kanchana Phattharachoke, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson stated that Britain’s Foreign Secretary David Cameron will pay an official visit to Thailand on March 20, 2024. During his visit, Thailand and the UK will formally announce their relations as Strategic Partnership.

Lord Cameron of Chipping Norton will pay a courtesy call on Srettha Thavisin, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and will have a bilateral meeting with Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment, security and defence, science, technology and innovation (STI), climate change, tourism, and people-to-people exhanges.

The Foreign Ministers of the two countries will sign “Thailand-UK Strategic Partnership Roadmap”, to reaffirm their shared commitment to promoting comprehensive cooperation in 8 key areas, namely (1) economy, trade, and investment; (2) politics, parliament and multilateralism; (3) security and defence; (4) climate change, energy, green economy, and sustainable development; (5) agriculture; (6) digital, science, technology and innovation; (7) public health; and (8) people-to-people relations, education and soft power.
