Dipping Sauce ??

Post by bigston »

I bought 3 of these jars from a market in Chiang Mai which was described as a dipping sauce.
and saw then everywhere up there
Its really nice,
have tried to find same / similar down here
only joy so far was a plastic container from Tops
staff say same same, the standard answer
i say not same same, its horrible, nothing like the one from up north
any other suggestions as to where down here i might find it , or "same same "
Thank You

I've just asked Mrs BB, and she recognised it right away, was very positive, and started telling me how nice it was. Then the bummer - she told me she buys it every time we go go to Chiang Mai :?

She said very expensive to get it sent here.

Thanks, BB and Mrs BB
yes it is really nice.
each time we go to CM we only take cabin baggage so yes it would be very expensive checked luggage, just for that.

Looks like Nam Prik Num. It's a Chiang Mai specialty, often eaten with Cat Mu, crispy fried pork skin. Comes in mild and spicy versions. Super tasty. I've never found any as delicious as they have in CNX. If you google it, you can find a recipe. Good luck.

As it's in jars, I assume it would travel OK. If you have no luck with answers here, why not take some to a local post office and send it down a day before you come home? If it's a weekend, the likes of Kerry would still be open - wouldn't cost too much,

Well, that's what it says it is on the jar, so you're probably right.
