Johnny Walker (JW) Appeal

Post by Big Boy »

NB: This is NOT a Forum sponsored appeal - we are simply helping to spread the word.

The following message has been trending on Social Media. Knowing he has friends on the Forum, who do not go near platforms such as Facebook, we thought it would be useful to share the message here.

The comments go on to state the bank account as:
Richard Vine
The account I've opened will only be used to pay for a professional carer and medical bills. A carer will enable Olene to get back to work. this is the account Bangkok Bank 3544157427. In Thailand you cannot open an account in another name unless it is a company which comes with plenty of issues.
However, if you would like to help, I suggest you contact Richard or Olene directly. We are only messengers here on the Forum Admin Team.

One other question many of you may be asking is regarding Johnny's visa status. This has also been answered in the comments:
Another guy in our ad hoc admin group is a lawyer and he will be getting JW a medical visa on the grounds of unfit to fly. This doesn't need any funds. This was a big worry for Olene.
JW was a regular poster here, but that was curtailed as his unfortunate illness set in. Here's hoping this message reaches his many friends who the original message may have missed.

There has been a dedicated Facebook Page set up now: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2168631293340534

Hmm, that is terrible news. Not something that most of us are likely to consider, but should.

Incredibly sad news. Bloody good bloke is Johnny. No age at all that to be struck by dementia.

Thanks for posting this BB. I am a fb friend of Johnnys and was hoping it would be picked up here.

I suspect there are a few here who bought their houses via him as well, including me. My friend and neighbour did as well.

If I recall correctly, JW was a mod here in the early day's as well.

I will be contributing.

I hope that everybody who knows JW will be able to make a contribution however large or small.
Thanks for helping to spread the message to those not on Facebook.

I first met JW in 2006 when I bought a property that he was involved in, with a notorious HH developer, but I’m sure JW was relatively innocent. I also spent many an evening at his bar which was one of the quieter places to have a drink.

So sad to hear of his decline in health at such a young age and will be happy to make a donation to his fund. Here’s hoping that your future life isn’t too unkind to you Johnny.

Saw him a couple of months ago in Cheers. Looks pretty much the same but doesn't recognize old friends.

I know he made it back to the UK with a member of his family a couple of months ago.

Yes, I don't know the exact circumstances but I believe he is OK.

Richard Vine posted 3/4/23 on Friends of Johnny Facebook page that JW is in a care home in Low Etherley, Bishop Auckland and his cousin takes him out every weekend. The home overlooks the village cricket ground, which apparently is perfect for him as he loves his cricket. So it sounds like he’s as okay as is poss.

Thank you for the updates. Richard and Johnny were one of the first folk I met in Hua Hin. Always extremely welcoming. After what happened to his father, I was very sad to hear of Johnny's circumstances.

Good people.

I don't know Richard, but from the fb posts supporting JW, he is still in HHua Hin and organised pretty much everything for JW.
