Post by Big Boy »

We did our annual walk around the shopping mall Christmas lights this evening. Here are a few snaps:

Bluport:

A rainbow theme this this year, but they do seem to have scaled their display down a bit.

The electricity crises doesn't have to seem to hit Thailand, yet. My electricity bill has gone up 100% from last year.

What is a Jackaverse? I can think of a few things, none of them printable.

I've had a brief look at the MV display. Noted was the complete absence of any image or mention of Santa and nowhere did I see, or reference to, Christmas. Even the tree only bore the words 'Happy New Year'.

No Santa? So not much chance of a Nativity scene then. Image

A very good point, although I hadn't missed him. They've always had a Santa in the past.

Unfortunately have not been to HH for many years, but the lights around the Train Station and markets were always good.

Santa, the corporate version of Jesus.

They probably don't want to piss off their new favorite tourist and investment group, the Saudis.

Why would the Saudis be pissed off. It's a 'Christian' (debatable) holiday. We don't get upset with Ramadam.

And 'Santa' was a real person - Saint Nicholas from the 3rd century.

Not Hua Hin, but I quite like this years 'winter wonderland' at Emquartier in Bangkok. But definitely scaled down from previous years.
