Eurovision

Post by dtaai-maai »

It's Eurovision week in Liverpool, and the country really seems to going for it! Bit disturbing really...

My daughter and granddaughters are trying to persuade me to watch it. Now that I've seen the Croatian entry, I'm sorely tempted! The Zagreb version of YMCA. Apparently it's about Mama buying a tractor - they even use my style of dancing!

I’m sure Mr Harvey will have something to say about your (possible) intentions - go and take a cold shower immediately!!

No time to reply now, I have to pop out to collect my sequinned cat suit from the dry cleaner.

(EDIT: Just noticed the article. That's definitely not me, no sequins)

Well the BBC have been pummeling viewers with Eurovision and anything associated with it.......

A 4 hour event, 26 Acts (UK the last to perform) - Any takers, anyone going to watch? I may just have a quick look-see, but 4 hours, I think not!

I think, the last time I watched was when Abba came first.

Well, by all accounts, Sweden are desperate to win so that they can host the Eurovision next year on the 50th anniversary of ABBA's victory! :thumb:

50th anniversary. Oh Lordi, I should have kept quiet, my age shows in a really bad way now.

I think my watching goes back to the same era - I can remember watching the presentation by a somewhat excited Katie Boyle in the 60’s/70’s!!

Yes but some of the pictures got stuck together :duck:
An extract from Wiki,

“Boyle was an on-screen continuity announcer for the BBC in the 1950s. A decade later she became a television personality, regularly appearing on panel games and programmes such as What's My Line? and Juke Box Jury. Boyle was the presenter for the 1960, 1963, 1968 and 1974 Eurovision Song Contests, all of which were hosted in the UK. She hosted the 1974 contest wearing no underwear; it had been cut off from under her satin dress moments before the broadcast began.”
