Affirmation to marry to Ministry of Foreign Affairs and agent in Bangkok

Post by fellwalker »

I have a need for an agent in Bangkok to assist in the legalisation of an affirmation to marry at the Ministry of Foreign affairs.
Has any one had positive experience's of such an agent and their contact details?
I have in my head "bangkok-translation" but cant remember why.

Why does it need to be translated in BKK?
I got my affirmation and brought it back to Hua Hin! Orn at Hua hin Visa services on Soi 94 is sorting everything!

The affirmation does not have to be translated in BKK I just remembered an agents name that happened to include the word translation. As you are doing it can be done in HH so long as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs finds it acceptable and that question is moot. A number of people have reported the M of FA being difficult.
Can you give me a contact number for Orn at Hua Hin Visa services. I don't seem to be able to find a web page for them.

Did this service include getting approval and stamp from the legalization division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs?
How much did the translation and approval at the Ministry cost, and how long did it take?
Thanks

I did this in 2010 in Bangkok

I went to British Embassy for a letter from them that I was not married. probably gave divorce certificate.

Get Agent to take us to Bang Ruk (spelling?) for marriage papers. The Agent took them for translation into English. He then takes them to Ministry Foreign Affairs for approval. This is all on the first day.

The next day the agent collects from Ministry and gives to us.

The total cost was about bht15,000 as far as I can remember.

But is was all very straight forward

My memory isn’t so good these days, but I’m fairly certain that when I got married we did everything ourselves getting the local marriage certificate translated in Cha Am and then got everything approved at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the British Embassy in Bangkok - didn’t use any Agency.

I've been quoted 3,400 Baht and 6,000 Baht for getting the Affirmation of Marriage and Passport Certified translated, and stamped by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

If I can find a translation agency near the British Embassy that can turn the translation around on the spot, I might try to take to the Foreign Affairs office myself.

The visit to the MFA requires an appointment and tricky to get.
Definitely will incur a stay in BKK.
I am not usually in favor of using agents. I have renewed my retirement visa 19 times without one.

I can recommend.
