Yes, I was listening to the Thai Football Podcast (in English) earlier today, and they reckon this new Japanese coach is the business.

BTW I don't post much about the national team because there is information overload on the multitude of Thai national teams. It is often too difficult to distinguish which level of team they are reporting on.

Massive ask of course, but would be great to see Thailand in a world cup. Asia has the longest qualification route to get there. It's a challenge, but they're on target to get to the third round of qualifying. Only ever reached the final round of world cup qualification twice (2002, 2018).

Thailand hope to exploit home ground advantage

Thailand national football team coach Masatada Ishii is hoping his men will benefit from the home ground advantage when they take on South Korea in their fourth Group C game of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.

The match will be played at Bangkok's Rajamangala National Stadium at 7.30pm and will be televised live by Thai Rath TV (32).

The War Elephants are in a confident mood after securing a rallying 1-1 tie in Seoul on Thursday..............

Thailand were woeful, they couldn't keep the ball for more than three touches in the first half, and when anyone got it in the second, they wouldn't pass and wanted to run through the entire Korean defense like Messi. Its no wonder they've never been in a World Cup!
