Two questions...I understand that there is some new card that is issued...Something like the Thai ID Smart Card.....Is that also in HH.
My DL is good for another about 4 years but I will get it changed when I buy a house...Is that a big problem

As far as I know there are no changes scheduled for the DL at the moment. Recently changed my residence address on my Thai DL and got the same lay out DL for another 5 years.
