Which is the best bank to use?

I need to open a Thai bank account and would like to know if anyone has any specific recommendations. Are most of the charges similar? When sending sterling are the exchange rates fairly common?

There are a bunch of threads in this section about banks and banking for foreigners.

Ayudhaya Bank seems to be the most farang friendly at the moment, this page has more info:

Well, I ust visited Bangkok Bank, opened an account in 15 mins with ATM card (300 bht).
I have found Nationwide in UK by far the best with best rates and ease of use
